Lucy Morris Editor-in-chief Welcome to the Perfect Pets The Pet Portrait August Issue - it’s great to be with you in the height of the summer season.

As August unfolds, it’s the perfect time to capture the essence of our beloved pets through stunning portraits. The warm summer light creates ideal conditions for outdoor photoshoots, allowing pet photographers to showcase the playful and vibrant nature of our furry companions. The golden hues of the season provide a natural warmth to images, enhancing the look of our furry friends.

Whether it’s a majestic cat lounging in a sun-dappled garden, a joyful dog playing in a park, or even a fun rabbit hopping through a lush lawn, August provides a beautiful backdrop for creating lasting memories. The abundance of natural flora in full bloom offers a variety of colourful and textured backgrounds, perfect for highlighting the unique personalities of our animal friends.

Many pet owners take advantage of this month to schedule professional pet portrait sessions, capturing their animals’ personalities in the height of summer. These sessions can range from formal studio set-ups to more candid, action-filled outdoor shoots. Skilled photographers know how to work with pets of all temperaments, ensuring that even the most camera-shy animals can shine in their portraits.

As the month progresses, it’s worth noting that August 26th marks International Dog Day, offering an excellent opportunity to celebrate our canine friends with special portrait sessions. Many photographers and pet stores offer promotions or themed shoots around this date.

For those who prefer a more hands-on approach, it’s also a great time for DIY photo shoots at home. With a phone camera and some patience, pet owners can capture beautiful moments with their dogs in familiar surroundings.

While dogs get their special day in August, let’s not forget about our feline friends, exotic pets, and other animal companions. The warm weather and long daylight hours of August make it an ideal time for outdoor photography sessions with pets of all kinds.
