Welcome to Perfect Pets Magazine Edition May 2024 Issue!

For pets, the transition from spring to summer is marked by a significant increase in outdoor activity and exploration. As the chilly spring weather gives way to the warmer and brighter days of summer, pets, much like their wild counterparts, show an eagerness to spend more time outdoors. The longer daylight hours and the inviting warmth of the season offer perfect conditions for extended outdoor plays, leisurely walks in the park, and exploratory adventures in new environments.

This shift in seasons also brings about a noticeable change in their behaviour. Pets, particularly dogs and cats, exhibit an up-tick in energy levels, relishing the opportunity to play and explore. They may also show a heightened interest in interacting with other animals, a testament to their innate curiosity and sociability.

However, the arrival of summer is not without its challenges for our furry friends. The rising temperatures, while enjoyable at first, can pose a significant risk to pets, especially to those with thick coats or those who are not accustomed to the heat. It becomes crucial for pet owners to pay close attention to their pets’ comfort and health during this time. Extra care should be taken to ensure pets are protected from the heat. This can be achieved by limiting their exposure to direct sunlight during the hottest parts of the day, providing them with plenty of fresh water to stay hydrated, and making sure they have access to cool, shaded areas where they can rest and escape the heat.

Moreover, summer also sees the emergence of various pests, such as fleas and ticks. Therefore, it’s important for pet owners to stay on top of their pets’ preventative care, ensuring they are protected from these seasonal nuisances.
