Spring in Katowic The city of Katowice - the capital of Silesian Voivodeship in Poland - is mainly known for its industrial heritage. Hence, it is often quite a surprise for visitors to realize that the south of the city is vastly green. Katowice boasts natural reserves, parks, forests, and swamps, making up over 40% of its area, where elusive roe and graceful fallow deers roam. In spring, migratory birds flock to the city’s green spaces during their journeys, adding to the local biodiversity.
