On April 8th, 2025, the SVG Teachers Co-operative Credit Union Ltd (SVGTCCU Ltd ) hosted a transformative Youth Symposium under the timely and empowering theme, "Self-Care." Held in a spirit of education, inspiration, and connection, the event brought together teens from fifteen (15) secondary schools across St. Vincent and the Grenadines, SVGTCCU Youth Group members, and scholarship recipients for a day dedicated to personal growth and mental wellness. The symposium featured a panel of professionals who shared heartfelt insights and practical guidance on some of the most pressing challenges faced by today’s youth.

Ms Jomelia Douglas, Dr Elica Matthews, and Mr Kesley Cambridge led dynamic discussions on healthy relationships, peer pressure, self-esteem, and mental health topics that resonated deeply with the attentive and engaged audience

One of the most meaningful aspects of the day was a handson session in which participants explored the benefits of journalling as a tool for selfreflection and emotional wellbeing. Each attendee created their own personalized journal, equipping them with a tangible outlet for their thoughts, dreams, and daily reflections.

The event not only provided critical life skills and emotional support, but also fostered a sense of community among the teens uniting students from diverse backgrounds under a common goal of self-care and resilience

SVGTCCU Ltd continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering young people across the nation not just as future financial members, but as confident, well-rounded individuals equipped to lead with purpose.

SVGTCCU Ltd. Rekindles School Co-operative Spirit with Post-Pandemic Tour

After a long pause brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the SVGTCCU Ltd. has proudly reintroduced its much-anticipated School Co-operative Tour—a gesture of appreciation and encouragement for the young savers who actively participate in the school thrift program.

This year’s tour took students on a refreshing and fun-filled trip to the scenic Maderia Valley National Park, where they reconnected with nature, bonded with peers, and celebrated the values of thrift and community. The day was filled with an energizing hike, team-building games, and the kind of laughter and camaraderie that only youth and fresh air can bring.

The School Co-operative Tour is more than an excursion—it’s the Credit Union’s way of saying thank you to the students who are forming smart financial habits early through saving. It also reflects SVGTCCU’s commitment to education beyond the classroom, encouraging personal growth, wellness, and teamwork.

As the first tour since the pandemic, this year’s event felt especially meaningful— marking not just a return to tradition, but a renewed commitment to supporting the next generation of financially savvy citizens.
