THE YOUNG CORSAIR PASOLINI FROM BOLOGNA

ITALY | 2022 | ITA | SUBS ENG | 98 MINS | DOCUMENTARY

PRODUCION: Si Produzioni, Cinecittà Luce CAST: Nico Guerzoni, Samantha Faina, voice of Neri Marcorè

This fi lm follows the radical fi lmmaker, poet, and author Pier Paolo Pasolini and the important connections to his life growing up in Bologna. Pasolini pushed the boundaries of fi lm and literature during post World War II in Italy. He often found himself highly criticized for his political beliefs and taboo topics he wrote or fi lmed. Moving between the political unrest in Italy and his own personal challenges, and countless charges and lawsuits about the nature of his writings and fi lms, Pasolini somehow still managed to be considered a great director and his fi lms were highly popular. Obsessed with class culture and divide, these struggles made many appearances in his fi lms along with his contempt of consumerism. Through Marrese’s documentary, audiences will get an inside look into one of the world’s most controversial fi lmmakers.

The fi lm follows families in a particular building as they attempt to pay rent and support their families by working an honest job. Marrese’s most recent project “Il Giovane Corsaro -Pasolini da Bologna“ (2022) commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of the legendary fi gure Pier Paolo Pasolini.
