Luisa Spagnoli is a woman of humble origins who decides to take over a small pastry shop on the verge of bankruptcy hoping to provide a better future for her family. Faced with many obstacles and cultural prejudices, Luisa’s determination and skill allow her to overcome these challenges and become a famous and successful Italian businesswoman overseeing an empire. The fi lm is set in the early 1900s in Perugia and follows the real-life story of Luisa Spagnoli, who founded the renowned chocolate brand, Perugina, and a high-class women's fashion clothing store named after her.

Lodovico Gasparini is a Spanish director most known for his television movies and miniseries. He began his career as an assistant director until his directorial debut with the fi lm “No grazie, il caffè mi rende nervosa“ (1982) following the story of a mystery killer terrorizing a musical festival in Naples. His second fi lm, “Italian Fast Food“ (1986) follows a series of characters in a fast-food restaurant. Gasparini then began his long career creating and directing tv movies and miniseries. In 2003, he won the Golden FIPA at the Biarritz International Festival of Audiovisual Programming for his tv movie, “La guerra è fi nita“ (2002). For his most recent project, Gasparini has directed 8 episodes of the series L’allieva.
