Tomorrow - The West Highland Way! Date : June 19, 2009
I’m nervous. Tomorrow morning at 1:00 a.m. Rob and I start the 95-mile West Highland Way here in Scotland. It’s shorter than the other 32 100s I’ve finished. It’s less cumulative climb than Massanutten. We have only about 5.5 hours of dark here in the north. And I’ve run a 110-mile race losing two nights of sleep before. No real reason to be nervous, right? It’s probably the weather. It will be cold and it looks rainy. Rain here is just plain intimidating, especially combined with the wind blowing unchecked across the moors. I want to enjoy it, soak in the scenery, and run well. I hope like crazy that the weather cooperates but the forecast doesn’t look good. Wish us luck!
