2021-2022 GRACEPOINT Annual Report

Page 1

On behalf of the students, faculty, sta , and Board of Directors of GRACEPOINT School, I o er my sincere thanks for your trust and partnership. Your support allows us to provide our students with love, critical remediation, and a formative educational experience rooted in Christ. We are particularly thankful for the continued generosity of the families, friends, and community members re ected in this Annual Report. You are the reason we continue to grow and thrive.

e opportunities GRACEPOINT provides allow our students to reach their true potential, and would not be possible without your generous help. You literally change lives… GRACEPOINT continues to demonstrate instructional excellence with regional accreditation through the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), and on the national level as one of twenty programs to earn accreditation from the Academy of Orton Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE). GRACEPOINT is one of only two Christian schools in the entire United States to earn the distinction.

We are grateful and proud of the teachers and sta so dedicated to restoring hope to the beautiful dyslexic minds we serve each day. Proof of our growth and success was abundant throughout the 2021-2022 academic year, highlighted by an announcement that the school is moving! Our Board of Directors was a driving force behind the purchase of a new, permanent home for GRACEPOINT in April 2022. Once renovated, this new facility will double our space, dramatically increase our opportunity to e ectively deliver and expand critical services for our children, and provide designated spaces for worship, exercise, music, and much more.

As we continue on our path forward, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for your continued support. Your prayers and gi s of time, talent, treasure, and trust are priceless.

Enjoy the 2021-2022 highlights on the following pages. Our GRACEPOINT family has much for which we are grateful!

With gratitude,

GRACEPOINT welcomes families from all faith traditions, believing that God has given each of us talents and abilities to use for His glory.

• We believe that all students given the right opportunities and techniques can be successful learners.

• We believe that students can develop their talents and leadership qualities while learning.

• We believe that our students will progress by incorporating a multi-sensory approach to learning and being prescriptive in planning for each individual student.

• We believe in being open to the power of the Holy Spirit as we instruct our students in truth and love.

• We believe that our students will be more than able after completion of the program to transition back into public/private educational opportunities.

Despite lingering uncertainties of the pandemic, 2021-2022, the GRACEPOINT Board of Directors remained squarely focused on ensuring the future strength of our beloved school. Writing the next chapter for GRACEPOINT began with the launch of a successful “silent phase” of a capital campaign that led to the purchase in April of a new and permanent location for GRACEPOINT at 1407 Cobb Parkway.

In addition to the money raised for the building purchase our GRACEPOINT family united through participation in Giddy Up GRACEPOINT, a highly anticipated annual event that funds scholarships for students with financial need. It was a fantastic success, raising over $90,000! e Annual Fund, which supplements the school’s operating budget, also was a success raising over $130,000 for enhancements in technology and the purchase of materials that impact all of our children. Finally, your participation in the GOAL scholarship program continued to provide opportunities for families with nancial need to send their children to GRACEPOINT.

Your generosity of sacri cial time, talent, and treasure are the driving force behind GRACEPOINT’s success. ank you and God bless you for your commitment to making a di erence for our students.

Our future is bright! In 2022-2023 we will pivot to the next phase of our Capital Campaign. As our focus turns toward fundraising to allow for the renovations and improvements necessary for us to be able to move into our new home in January 2024, we sincerely request your continued prayers and support. Together, we will ensure that the next chapter for the children of GRACEPOINT School is an amazing one!

Sources of Tuition Assistance

There are 4 sources (pict ured right) of tuition assistance for GRACEPOINT students. The SB10 Waiver, also known as the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship, is 100% funded through the government (more info at gadoe.org). The other 3 programs are dependent on our generous donors. Please continue reading to learn more about these donor-funded programs that allow dyslexic students to attend GRACEPOINT despite their ability to pay full tuition.

Shana Ely Pardue was a mother with a passion for finding the best way to educate her son, Sam, who was diagnosed with dyslexia in the 3rd grade. Her journey brought her to GRACEPOINT and after her very first visit, Shana was convinced that not only had she found the right educational model for Sam, but also the Christ-centered environment that she desired for him.

Shana’s passion lives on in others that support the mission of GRACEPOINT School to remediate children with dyslexia. The generosity of donors to this fund will help unlock the potential of the children who are given the opportunity to attend GRACEPOINT.

This scholarship originated out of the love a young mother had for her son to get the help he needed and for so many more children who need help. Shana wanted more than just her own son to go to college and become a successful adult in his life, family and his community…she wanted to impact other dyslexic children as well. All this can now be possible because of a mother who loved her son so dearly and a school called GRACEPOINT.

Thank you to the following donors:

Total Raised: $20,500

Since the establishment of this fund, over $64,000 has been donated in honor of Shana.

In 2008, the Georgia General Assembly passed the Quali ed Education Expense Credit law that permits Georgia taxpayers to receive a state income tax credit for amounts contributed to quali ed student scholarship organizations ("SSOs"). is legislation has been described as the nation's best education expense credit law. GRACEPOINT School is one of 177 private schools participating with the Georgia GOAL Scholarship program. This program significantly helps our school’s nancial position and allows students to attend GRACEPOINT that otherwise may not have had the opportunity. For 2021-2022, approximately 15% of families received funds from Georgia GOAL to assist them with tuition costs. We are so thankful to the contributors that chose to allocate their state tax dollars to GRACEPOINT… tax dollars they would pay regardless… to provide a dyslexic child with a specialized education.
