In 2012, I was approached by a group of individuals with a big dream and limited resources: they wanted to create a school for dyslexic students. After answering a few quick questions, I couldn't believe they were trying to start a school with only four students. From a business perspective, it seemed improbable. I advised them to wait a year or two, doubting they could pay for teachers and rent a space. They quickly dismissed my skepticism, saying I lacked faith and then asked if I would serve on their school board.
They were right, and I was wrong. In the beginning, teachers worked for reduced salaries, and one even volunteered. I watched as the school rapidly grew from four students to eight and soon had enough students to meet its financial obligations. Within just a few years, we had over 130 students and needed a larger facility.
The board reviewed many potential sites for a new space. When we toured the MUST Ministries building on Cobb Parkway, I was impressed but again skeptical about our ability to raise the necessary funds. Once more, they proved me wrong. Thanks to incredibly generous donations, we were able to purchase a new school with room to grow for many years to come. It could not be more appropriate that this exciting next step coincided with the celebration of GRACEPOINT’s 10th anniversary.
Reflecting on the growth and challenges our school has faced over the years, I am reminded that God is always in control. Our faculty and staff have consistently loved our students and provided them with the tools to reach their potential. The board has tirelessly supported the school, always striving to do what is best for our students. Parents have entrusted us with their precious children and supported us with their time and resources when needed.
The board and I are deeply grateful to everyone who supported our school as we took this big step. Thank you for believing in our mission. Our future is bright, and we are excited to see the positive impact our students will have on their communities in the years to come.
With gratitude, Owen Prillaman, Board Chair ‘23-’24

When Jon and Molly Vaughan’s son Nate was struggling in the 1st grade, they were at a loss as to how to help him. After receiving a diagnosis of dyslexia, they tried Orton Gillingham tutoring, but it became clear that Nate was in need of a fully immersive program in order for him to be remediated.
“Finding GRACEPOINT was an answer to prayer. God made it abundantly clear to us that this was the place for Nate. I often describe GRACEPOINT as a conduit between being lost in the desert and arriving at the Promised Land. GRACEPOINT beautifully integrates a teaching approach that is tailored for the dyslexic brain with scripture and biblical wisdom in the classroom.”
The caring teachers at GRACEPOINT made a significant difference in Nate’s educational journey. So much so, that when Nate’s younger sister Hollis was also diagnosed with dyslexia, they knew exactly where she needed to be.
“We are so grateful for the help GRACEPOINT has given our family. Nate and Hollis would not be where they are without GRACEPOINT. We support GRACEPOINT by giving to their capital campaign, annual fund and tuition assistance program because we want to ensure that other families facing similar challenges have access to the specialized education their children need.”
The Vaughan’s generosity and commitment to paying it forward exemplifies the spirit of community and compassion, showing that even when their own children may no longer attend GRACEPOINT, they remain dedicated to supporting its mission and helping other families in need.
Nate is now a middle schooler at Mt. Paran Christian School and is thriving. He was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society and excited to enter high school.
Hollis is continuing her journey at GRACEPOINT, finishing her scope and sequence this year. She will transition to Mt. Paran Christian School next year, prepared to take on the rigors of middle school because of the great training and education she has received at GRACEPOINT.
“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be."
Matthew 6:19-21
The 22-23 school year brought much excitement after the completion of Phase 1 (the purchase of the MUST ministries building) in April of 2022. Several members of our GRACEPOINT family stepped up in a big way to raise funds for Phase 2 (the interior renovation.)
Current parent Mac Powell held a Christmas concert at the Church of the Apostles donating the proceeds from the ticket sales to the building renovation. Founder and board member Molly Holm, dedicated the proceeds from two Glory Haus sale days. In addition, she pledged a 1:1 match for all Giving Tuesday donations to GRACEPOINT's capital campaign. A sincere thank you to Mac and Molly, and to everyone who supported GRACEPOINT by participating in those events!

Shana Ely Pardue was a mother with a passion for finding the best way to educate her son, Sam, who was diagnosed with dyslexia in the 3rd grade. Her journey brought her to GRACEPOINT and after her very first visit, Shana was convinced that not only had she found the right educational model for Sam, but also the Christ-centered environment that she desired for him.
Shana’s passion lives on in others that support the mission of GRACEPOINT School to remediate children with dyslexia. The generosity of donors to this fund will help unlock the potential of the children who are given the opportunity to attend GRACEPOINT.

There are 4 sources (pictured left) of tuition assistance for GRACEPOINT students. The SB10 Waiver, also known as the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship, is 100% funded through the government (more info at gadoe.org). The other 3 programs are dependent on our generous donors. Please continue reading to learn more about these donor-funded programs that allow dyslexic students to attend GRACEPOINT despite their ability to pay full tuition.
Since the establishment of this fund, over $85,000 has been donated in honor of Shana.

GRACEPOINT welcomes families from all faith traditions, believing that God has given each of us talents and abilities to use for His glory.
• We believe that all students given the right opportunities and techniques can be successful learners.
• We believe that students can develop their talents and leadership qualities while learning.
• We believe that our students will progress by incorporating a multi-sensory approach to learning and being prescriptive in planning for each individual student.
• We believe in being open to the power of the Holy Spirit as we instruct our students in truth and love.
• We believe that our students will be more than able after completion of the program to transition back into public/private educational opportunities.
