An insight into Physical Phenomena

Karen Richards, is a medium and psychic living in Perth. Karen is very dedicated and passionate about all types of physical phenomena, and has sat with many physical mediums over the years. This has allowed her to be privy to some amazing experiences in many kinds of phenomena, both in her group and travels abroad.
Through physical mediumship the spirit world can validate that life is continuous by using energy in a physical way.
Karen explained that the spirit world use photoplasmic energy taken from sitters, a medium or the environment, also known as kinetic energy. It has always been used in the séance room to produce the same phenomena as ectoplasm does and more. The difference is that it’s hard to pick up on camera and by sitters unless it’s built a certain way, but when done so, it can be seen visibly and felt within the room. Photoplasm also is used to coat the ectoplasm to protect it from light. Photoplasm will be dispersed first without harming the medium caused by a sudden exposure to light or human touch. Ectoplasm is produced from the medium’s body. It was, and often still is, assumed by many to be the only energy used in the séance room to create phenomena. It’s taken from the medium or even some sitters, as we all have ectoplasm in different amounts. Physical mediums have an abundance, which some refer to as the life force of the medium. This was confirmed and shows when the spirit forms have a pulse, which I was told, is the pulse of the medium via the ectoplasm.
There are various forms of physical phenomena:
• Levitation, which refers to table tipping, where a table can move around, spin and also levitate.
• Direct voice, mostly using the trumpet, which looks like a long cardboard cone. The spirit world uses the voice box of the medium, projecting it through the trumpet, which is normally seen in mid-air. This is spectacular to witness.
• Percussion is when ectoplasmic rods can be seen controlling the trumpets and when manipulated energy is heard as raps and knocks. • Apports are ‘gifts’ from the spirit world in many forms, such as crystals, coins and significant precious gems, such as a loved one’s jewellery. These can literally fall from mid-air or manifest from the medium’s form. Karen has had jewellery made from some of the apports she has received.
One of the most famously renowned mediums who used materialisation is Welshman, Jack Webber. He had ectoplasm drawn from his solar plexus which formed two ectoplasmic rods through which the trumpets communicated. On one occasion, Jack’s arms and legs were tied to a chair and a table levitated in front of the group.
Ethel Post-Parrish, another famous physical medium, was seated and entranced in her cabinet when her guide
Silver Belle clearly materialised outside the curtain. Photographs were taken of this phenomenon.
Karen has had many experiences with table tipping and shares fascinating stories of a table climbing up a wall and one being levitated over everyone’s heads and touching the ceiling.
Karen visited Lilydale in USA in 2019, where she experienced precipitated art. This is when a physical medium sits in front of an easel with plain paper and pastels or pencils and the spirit world ‘apport’ magnificent images of loved ones to the sitters.
The well-known Bang sisters would also apport the most amazing artwork in this way. Karen is now sitting for the practice of precipitation.
In one particular séance, Karen was asked to lay her arm on the entranced medium’s arm as he sat in the cabinet. His arms were connected to the chair via cable ties. The entranced medium began to vibrate very fast and became very hot. He then passed his arm freely through the ties, lifting them vertically to be replaced back in the ties by spirit; this allowed Karen to experience matter passing through matter. she had witnessed, was in Switzerland. Bill Meadows was seated in the cabinet, which then opened up with a plaque materialising, showing the face of a much younger man than Bill. She was able to touch and hold the face, which felt like ‘living’ flesh.
Karen also recently sat for scientific and experimental sittings for research in the UK. At the last sitting, the entranced medium was seated in the cabinet and the other sitters were singing to raise the energy for the medium. She then witnessed a being, at least seven foot tall and coated in ectoplasm, glide from behind the cabinet. The being came to the red light, put his face down to the light so he could be seen and then lifted his head to look at all the sitters. Karen noticed that he appeared to have no feet and was floating just above the ground.
There is so much that we don’t know about physical phenomena and mediumship and we continue learning about it constantly. Yours in Spirit
