The Mentalist Attention to Intention

I often remind my clients and students that ‘we get what we focus on’. Our words and thoughts shape our reality and the way we perceive the world around us. When we focus on the negative, then we will see negatives in our life and environment and vice versa.

Two interesting points: the word ‘Abracadabra’ in the original Aramaic, literally means “I will create as I speak.” Also there is a saying that, ‘words cast spells, that is why it is called spelling. Words are energy and should be used wisely’.

This issue is focused on crystals, so what has all this got to do with crystals? Well, all crystals vibrate at different frequencies, which is why quartz crystal is used to regulate the electronic oscillators in a clock to keep time. Different crystals have different uses.

Now I am not a walking encyclopedia on which crystals are best used for what reason; I have friends who I can refer to for this when needed. What I am though, is knowledgeable in how we program our reality and I have found that crystals are also programmable. I must admit when choosing a crystal at a market or shop I just let the piece talk to me and, partial as I am to lapis lazuli, if I like the look and feel of a different crystal I’ll get it. If I wish for that crystal to have a certain use, then I will program it for that purpose. At the end of this column I have included a short ritual that can be used to place intention into a crystal, or indeed any object, although I have found that natural crystals and metals are best.

Many years ago, I studied Correllian Wicca, thaumaturgy and other ritualistic modalities and I have many friends who practice Hermetic magic. I have found that those starting out in magic ritual tend to place a lot of emphasis on the actual physical aspects of the ritual; light a certain coloured candle at a certain time of day, walk around three times, you get the picture.

However, once they understand magic, they learn that the physical aspects are

just a memory tool to prompt thoughts and words. In other words, it is the intention that works the actual magic.

One of the most useful things I have a learnt when it comes to imbuing a crystal with any sort of intention is that the energy recharge is kinetic, meaning it is of, or relating to, the motion of material bodies and the forces and energy associated therewith. When you start learning about crystals, you may hear people talking about cleansing and charging the crystals, placing them in the light of the full moon and other various methods. Now I am a bit lazy, so if I can find a better way to do something that takes less effort on my part, I’ll find it. So, when I place a use or intention into a crystal, I also place in this kinetic aspect.

Many of the crystals I use on a daily basis I have made into jewellery. I have a bracelet made from Turquoise and Lapis, that I wear whenever I go out, I call it my protection or shield bracelet and I also wear my pendulum as a necklace. I never have to charge them because they are constantly being regenerated through kinetic activity every time my arm, wrist or upper body moves. It is important to put in the intention that it will not over charge: I learnt that early on, when I could not figure out why some of the crystals I wore constantly developed fractures - an expensive lesson. As you can see, a lot of experimentation has gone into my practice and perfection of imbuing crystals for particular uses.

Ritual to imbue a crystal with a certain use

Create a circle with intent, with light, chalk or ritual to work in. 1: Purify the talisman, amulet or crystal with consecrated water. 2: Use cloud hands from Qi Gong, to activate hand chakras. 3: Hold the item in the right hand. Remember, left hand for energy in, right for out. Chant a mantra to focus your mind, such as OM NAMAH SHIVAYA or your own personal mantra. 4: While repeating the mantra, focus on the purpose you wish the item to serve. 5: Will the energy into the item, ensuring it is phrased positively. Feel that deep intention resonate from the palm chakra, pouring into the item. 6: Open the circle. You may hear or feel a little static ‘pop’ of the residual energy dispersing and the ritual is complete.

You may wish to carve or draw a particular Sigil, a type of symbol, into the item beforehand, one that matches the items willed purpose. (Many Sigils can be found on the internet: Search ‘Sigil’ together with the purpose intended, such as Sigil Protection).
