Cordell’s Corner: Road Map to the Summit Christian Academy Tuition Assistance & Scholarship Program

Summit Christian Academy families now have several opportunities for scholarships for their children to attend SCA. Check out this list of opportunities that will help those SCA families and students that qualify.

Summit Christian Academy Tuition Cordell Dick Assistance Program

Director of Major Gifts SCA has had this program in place for many years. The application is accessed through SCA’s website (https://summit-christian-academy.org/) using FACTS. Simply click on Admissions/About Admissions/Tuition Assistance and then click on the FACTS Login Page link. Then follow the prompts. Tips on applying for SCA Tuition Assistance include the following: • Applications that are submitted early are given preference (so apply early). • A completed SCA admissions application is required before tuition assistance is evaluated. • Your completed 2022 federal income tax return, including all personal and business returns, must be uploaded to

FACTS. • You will be required to disclose the total tuition amount that the family can afford for the upcoming school year.

ACE Scholarship (Deadline is April 15)

ACE uses information from the online SCA tuition assistance application sponsored by FACTS. Be sure to check BOTH the box for the ACE Scholarship and Summit Christian Academy tuition assistance when completing the FACTS online TA application. Qualifying families awarded ACE scholarships receive $3,000 for each elementary student in grades 1-7 and $4,000 for each secondary student in grades 8-12. The application window for ACE scholarship applications is from the February 6- April 15. The ACE website is https:// www.acescholarships.org/.

MOScholars Financial Award

When you apply for the SCA tuition assistance and ACE Scholarship, we would ask that applicants also apply for the MOScholars scholarship. The website is https://treasurer.mo.gov/MOScholars. Click on the “Parents and Students” link. Follow the prompts to determine if you qualify for the MOScholars award, which is up to $6,375 per year per child, minus a $160 processing fee. We recommend you choose the Herzog Tomorrow Foundation to process your application. The Herzog Tomorrow Foundation website is https://moscholars. herzogtomorrowfoundation.com/.

Folds of Honor Scholarship

Applications must be submitted between February 1 - March 31. The Folds of Honor Foundation provides financial assistance of up to $5,000 per recipient for the education of dependent children of: 1) service men/women who are either killed or permanently disabled while serving and defending our great nation or 2) a first responder who has fallen or been catastrophically injured in a manner which led to an inability to perform the function of their occupational duties, including firefighters, law enforcement officers, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, and other individuals who, in the course of his or her professional duties, responds to fire, medical, hazardous material spills, or similar emergencies. Folds of Honor website is https://foldsofhonor.org/scholarships/.

Payment Plan Communication

SCA will communicate the payment plan through the FACTS portal account for tuition payments for each family. The plan will include the charge for tuition and any applicable tuition assistance or third-party based scholarship awards. The plan will also include details on the payment schedule for the amount owed by the family. Applying Third-Party Scholarship Awards to SCA Charges Families are strongly urged to apply for all third-party scholarship awards, like MOScholars, ACE, Folds of Honor, etc., and SCA welcomes the opportunity to assist in this process. Upon receipt of the third-party scholarship award, the SCA tuition assistance will be reduced by ninety percent of the scholarship award. Ten percent of these awards will be applied to the family’s tuition/fees account. If there is any excess scholarship award remaining after reducing the SCA tuition assistance amount to zero, the excess will be credited to the family’s tuition/fees account.
