Elementary Food Drive Supports Kansas City Families

Elementary students united to give almost 10,000 food items and paper goods to bless families with a meal for Thanksgiving this year through their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. One Sixth grade students helped to organize, pack, and load the items to be of the core values distributed to area churches. of SCA is to Cultivate Community, and the food drive helps students understand the importance of serving the community. Sixth grade student Aubrey Yates helped pack up some of the nearly 10,000 items donated Sixth graders wrote encouraging notes, packed boxes, and loaded them onto trucks by elementary families to bless Kansas City to transport the food to Courageous Life Church in Independence, Hearts and Hands in families with a Thanksgiving meal this season. The items were distributed through the churches to bless hundreds of Kansas City metro families for Thanksgiving. “We are praying for the families to have the opportunity to hear the Gospel along with their physical needs being met,” shared Lower Elementary Principal Charissa Sanders. “So many people will be blessed!” The students exceeded their overall goal of collecting 8,000 items, as the week ended with 9,952 items donated.

Elementary Christian Character Awards Announced

SCA is pleased to recognize students who consistently exhibit exceptional Christian character through the Christian Character Award program. The purpose of this award is to encourage students to pursue their potential toward attaining the highest level of personal and academic development as well as Christian character. Receiving the Christian Character Award is one of the most prestigious recognitions within the school. Elementary recipients for first quarter were second grade student Luke Eagleburger and fifth grade student Casey Rinn.

Cheerleaders Participate in Annual Service Project

The JH and Elementary Cheerleaders (grades 2-8) participated in their annual service project with Operation Christmas Child. They packed shoe box gifts, collected shoeboxes from others in our community, and prayed over 100 shoeboxes. These 100 boxes of gifts will share the greatest gift of all—Jesus.
