Underscored by ambiguity, Fight or Flight reveals remarkable similarities between man-made objec ts and nature: what seems docile and harmless at first glance can suddenly shif t to become dark and ominous when viewed more closely. The dragonfly is a mar vel of flight engineering. Much like a dragonfly, the helicopter is adept at quickly plunging in for a landing in a dif ficult location , and hastily fleeing when faced with danger. Migrator y bird species , such as geese and duck s , fly together to conser ve energ y over long distances . Having fancied the flight of birds for millennia , we finally broke free of our terrestrial confines in the beginning of the 20 th Centur y with the invention of the airplane . It is our hope that these vessels will provoke contemplation and discussion of where we may soar nex t .
Vase - Face is a famous set of cognitive optical illusions developed around 19 15 by the Danish psychologist Edgar Rubin . At first glance , you may see an image of a vase or a goblet . Look again and the perspec tive shif ts and you see two human faces in silhouet ted profile . Our interpretation of the illusion investigates the use of animated facial profiles as the negative images . The faces describe the following emotions: anger, joy, love , and defiance . The name of the set, “Conversation Piece�, can be interpreted in several ways , just like the optical illusion . A conversation piece is an unusual objec t that arouses comment or interest . This refers to the vase depic ted on the espresso cup and to the cup itself. The conversation is occurring between the two facial profiles , and also takes place between the espresso drinkers .
O f ten por trayed as the drink of the ancient Greek gods , ambrosia is told to confer ageless immor tality upon whoever consumes it . The modern interpretation of this drink is cof fee: a natural energ y supplier with an invigorating aroma and full-bodied taste fit for a king. E ach cup in this set of four represents a Greek god by depic ting the element of nature they are best known for. Zeus was responsible for bringing rain , drought, and thunderstorms . Prometheus stole Fire from Zeus and gave it to man . Poseidon , G od of the Sea . Aeolus was appointed to be the Ruler of the Winds .

We will provide a layout drawing for your approval. Opening Order: The minimum decoration order is 144 units per size, re-order minimum is 72 units for US based orders. A $300 set-up fee is required in order to initiate a new custom decorated order. This set-up fee is non-refundable. Orders can be sent via e-mail to orders@notneutral.com. Terms: As these are custom orders 50% is due upon initiation and balance is due upon completion, plus freight. A credit card is required to initiate the order. CUSTOM LOGO PROGRAM ARTWORK SPECS: Size: Standard sizes are 1” x 1”/2.5cm x 2.5cm or 1” x 2”/2.5cm x 5cm. Fonts: Please make sure to convert ALL fonts to outlines. Acceptable Vectored File Formats: We have the capacity to accept a wide

variety of vector file types in both PC and Macintosh formats, including: - Adobe Illustrator (AI) - Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) - Windows Meta File (WMF) Media: E-mail digital art work to alex@notneutral.com Minimum Line Weights: The recommended line weights for a white substrate is .5 points or greater. For a dark substrate the weight should be .75 points or greater. Two color artwork: Artwork is considered separated when each color of the image is “separated” onto a separate file layer. Each separated color must appear in black and should be labeled accordingly. Overlapping of colors should be avoided except when trapping is required. Trapping is suggested in order to ensure good registration. Trapping varies from design to design. It is recommended that the trapping be between .5 and 1.0 points.
Color Matching: The nature of ceramics limits our color palette. Firing conditions and glaze may vary the final color of the decal, matching pantone colors is difficult. There are some standard colors that we have used with great success: black, brown, blue (see photos). And there are some colors that are possible but more expensive and less predictable: red, orange, yellow. Very light colors should be avoided. Color matches or art proofs fired onto ceramic are available at an additional charge of $200. Please indicate a PMS color and we will do our best to match it. Graphic Services: Simple artwork is provided at no charge. If new artwork or extensive or complex artwork revisions are required, we will advise you of additional charges before proceeding with your order. Artwork revisions are billed at a rate of $70.00 per hour.
