Its expansion across Mindanao, within and outside the Philippines, has been so great. We are truly blessed with the increasing number of mission schools and volunteers! God’s mission is written, not just in our hearts but in the deeds and labors in the mission field. The missiological outcomes of our missionaries has expanded to our indigenous brothers and sisters in the mountains and in the islands. They have caught the hearts of our brethren. Our volunteers brought in dreams and faith to them, that through, our brothers and sisters will be able to know and learn that Jesus is the Father of missions on earth. The volunteers have given full efforts and respect through their involvement and deeper connection in the socio-anthropological aspect of their respective missional context, thus, making them successful throughout the term. SULADS Philippines flourished ultimately because God has been directing the institution. The mission cannot be achieved through a “one man” effort, but God works in each of us, keeping our hearts burning with passion for the great mission. The missio dei is the inspiration of our missionaries in the jungles, mountains, and islands. The Lord has directed it to work as a team, that if one man falls, the others will pull them back to keep the unity and sanctity of the mission alive. SULADS Philippines would not have gone this far if not for God and the humble volunteers who are behind it. As a servant of God who is appointed to lead the mission for SULADS, I cannot take credit for anything that the institution has achieved because it was God who worked in the hearts of our volunteers and in the hearts of our unreached brothers and sisters in the mission field. And I am proud to say that until now SULADS is great because the Lord is great! I am inviting you to pray with us that SULADS may continue to grow and expand in God’s mission field. May the Lord richly bless each and every one of you that we may all prosper in His name and glory!

Defeat and victories, “fighting the good fight of faith” is what 1 Timothy 6:12 completely describes this year’s experiences in our Bukidnon Cluster. It’s a battle and a march, yet ‘tis so sweet that in the midst of seeming defeat, we see God’s mighty hand leading us, urging us to follow His promptings. Adventist Brethren and former SULADS were made available as instruments of peace to bringing victories. Thank you very much dear brethren! Glory and honor be unto our Great Leader and General.

JEREMIAS B. BELMONTE NCMC Supervisor

When there is OBEDIENCE... Christ will conduct HIS BATTLES in ways that will surprise the greatest powers of earth. SULADS Annual Report | 13

Supervisor’s Report

“Obedience to every word of God is another condition of success. Victories are not gained by ceremonies or display, but by simple obedience to the highest General, the Lord God of heaven. He who trusts in this Leader will never know defeat. Defeat comes in depending on human methods, human inventions, and placing the divine secondary. Obedience was the lesson that the Captain of the Lord’s host sought to teach the vast armies of Israel... obedience in things in which they could see no success. When there is obedience to the voice of our Leader, Christ will conduct His battles in ways that will surprise the greatest powers of earth.” ~ Testimonies for the Church Vol. 6, p.140.

Our program has also been able to ignite others, especially the local government, to become an active part of our program through their financial support and involvement in the projects in the mountains. I hope and pray that our mission will not only prepare people in the mountains to be ready for the Lord’s soon coming but will also shine to the lowlanders through our kind, unselfish service.

Zamboanga Peninsula / Western Mindanao

In every activity that we have, we remind each other of how important it is to forgive others. I believe that’s a reason why great blessings are overflowing. God resides with us through His Word and gives us our financial, physical, and most of all, spiritual needs. In everything to God be the glory for a great school year. “We want good, strong minds that are not easily discouraged, minds that are educated to grapple with the difficulties we shall meet, and wrestle with and conquer hard problems. We must lift the standard of truth in the towns and cities around us. We must see what is to be done and do it in the love and fear of God. When we have gone just as far as we can by faith, then the Lord will undertake in our behalf. It is God who has inspired us to commence this work. We have gone forward step by step, praying, believing, working. God is the author of our faith, and when we each act our individual part, He perfects the work, glorifying His own name in the finishing of it. The Lord inspires His consecrated workmen to work not from what they see but from what the Lord sees.” ~ This Day with God, p. 65.

Mindoro

Mindoro Cluster now has eight (8) missionaries, five (5) of which are serving as Literacy Teachers, and the rest as Medical Missionaries and worship leaders. We also have several Mangyan Bible workers and student Mangyan weekend volunteers. Despite the outpouring of blessings, challenges are getting bigger too: unsupportive leaders, rebels and military issues, need of school buildings and missionary quarters, health clinics and livelihood projects. We also had challenging personalities in the field this year. Yet in spite of all these, we exclaim praise the Lord because this ministry is still bringing Jesus into the mountains of Occidental Mindoro! Many of our students and some parents are now attending Sabbath worships with us and by God’s grace, Mindoro Cluster is moving forward, sustained by faith, and supported by miracles.

KIMALE SULADS Annual Report | 33

Supervisor’s Report

The Lord has been so good for His Mangyan people this year. By His providence, we developed new mission schools in five (5) new villages –Kamambugan, Kanroan, Turawan, Kumiray and Kalantas—and many of the other villages are accepting our Bible workers. This year, we have students at Kimale Mission School who lives in a village which is three (3) hours away (Kalantas). The students became interested to attend our mission school at Kimale after they witnessed the power of the God of the Adventists when the prayers of the missionaries brought back to life a dead carabao. As of this time, Kalantas village only accepts visitors from Kimale alone. Since June 2017, we have been able to provide free lunches for more than a hundred students.

School for the Deaf

We were also given the opportunity by the Lord to help Marvin, a 1 year old baby from Mambutuan. He had cancer in his abdomen and needed a quick operation; but because the missionaries assigned in Mambutuan didn’t have the money, there was nothing else we can do but allow him to rest at the Deaf School while sponsoring his medication. The students would pray for the baby whenever he would drink his medicine and also every midnight. The teachers would pray for him too. After a week, everyone was surprised, most especially his doctor because the “bukol” (bump) in his stomach and groin area was gone. We were also given the opportunity to visit Tagum Central Church and be able to conduct Deaf and Autism Awareness. We were blessed for the opportunity God has given us to introduce to our brethren this special kind of ministry. We just realized that there were alot of church member who are Deaf and afflicted by Down Syndrome. This made the church thankful because they were able to know more about this kind of ministry where they pledged to help more. God is indeed so good to provide us with such special students and volunteers to work with in this one of a kind ministry.

Principal’s Report

We’ve been blessed throughout this year. Just this January 2018, we were blessed to be visited by Dr. Fred Webb. Our special students joined the SULADS Staff in welcoming him to MVC. He visited our school to see how we were doing. We prepared a special program for him and according to him, he was very grateful and blessed by it. We could only but praise God and be thankful that Dr. Webb and other people are witnessing how the school and the special ministry is growing.

To you, our dear donors, sufficient are the graces you received from God and the overflow of such has bathed us and our ministry to the unreached. Thank you ever so much. Our great God in heaven may continue to pour His abundant goods upon your endeavors. In sharing your bounties some of our proposed projects have been performed. There are yet places with challenges that necessitate attention and new mission fields to reach, thus projects realized are wanting. But with your continued reinforcement the Lord will enable us to continue reaching out pointing these unreached souls to Christ. As the need for SULADS Volunteers in the field arises so is the need for consecrated SULADS Volunteers in the Main Office that requires efficient services - ones who will be willing to carry on the ministry of perpetual discipleship. I appeal to those with willing hearts and minds to do service to the Lord to come and “put your hands in the plow”.

In all things, GIVE THANKS. GOD, the Giver of gifts is worthy to receive our praise and thanksgiving. The gift of life we live today, the health we enjoy now, and the strength that makes us carry on the entrusted work in our hands are ample, sufficed reasons to express our gratitude to Him. Added to these, are the unnumbered material and financial blessings bestowed to us from the Source of all blessings through the beneficence of our donors.

ADVENTIST MUSLIM RELATIONS

Director’s Message

To date, SULADS already has a workforce of 26 full-time missionaries in that distant land of 300 islands. We are operating six (6) Literacy Centers that serve nearly one thousand Muslim children. Yes, there are many challenges the Sulads face while in the conduct of their duties and responsibilities. Not to mention the fearful and unpredictable weather that easily changes from calm to rough. Yet, amidst all these seeming insurmountable challenges of: weather, food, lack for precious potable water, tribal wars, and stubborn children under their care, God has been faithful to stand by the side of His faithful children who do the gigantic task of bringing Jesus to these far flung areas. God has constantly provided for whatever needs, at times even the Sulads say, “My cup runneth over”. Indeed, God is faithful - what an amazing, awesome God. In the mainland, there have been quite a number of dialogues that have transpired that brought the Muslims and SDA’s close together, as if long-lost relatives having met for the first time after a long, long while. Dialogues that have turned from an expected argumentation and rhetoric, to a friendly and respectable one that drives both Muslims and SDA’s to hug each other in brotherly love where friendship and respect is the natural outcome. This was such an unprecedented event in all of SDA history - would-be enemies now embracing each other in brotherly love. Frequent visits to the Muslim Mosques (house of worship) have resulted in SDA’s being permitted to enter these restricted areas for non-Muslims, and even allowed SDA pastors to address the Muslim congregation seated sideby-side with SDA’s. What a sight, such a thrill to behold! When a new comer happens to join in one of the said activities, that SDA brother can only exclaim, “Indeed, Jesus’ coming must be very near, for this has never been heard of in recent past.” God indeed must have many surprises yet to unfold. Last year was a string many a teeny weeny surprise. What else does God have in store for 2018? Let us watch, pray, stick a while, and see what else God might be doing for His beloved children this year. May the God, who is in the business of keeping as many people into heaven, be praised, honored, and worshiped. Maranatha! AMR Director

God has been so good this past 2017. He has opened many doors to expand the work in the Muslim areas. In Tawi-Tawi, two more schools were opened courtesy of the Municipal Mayor, Honorable Reggie Sahali. The Mayor’s office sponsors all the stipends of the Sulads under her jurisdiction.
