CLUBS Summer meeting

In early May we were delighted to join the Midland Breeders Club on a visit to the Pinny family’s Alloaks Flock. The large group of Suffolk enthusiasts were impressed with the size, flesh and quality of the lambs on view. We were all keen to pick up tips from Merrick on how to turn out quality show stock. A stock judging competition was followed by an excellent meal. Many thanks to Merrick, Julie and family for hosting a great visit.

John Jiggens Trophy

This trophy is presented by the Club to the member with the most successful show team at our two local County shows in Suffolk and Norfolk, both of these county shows were

well supported by Suffolk Breeders in 2015 and the worthy winner of the Jiggens Trophy were Merrick & Julie Pinny. Gordon & Bettie Beddie with their Breckland Flock were runners up.

Winter Meeting

A good turnout of members gathered to hear a presentation from Signet manager Sam Boon who, fresh from the Sheep Breeders Round Table, outlined the work of AHDB and Signet in performance recording and breed improvement. He then proceeded to tell us about the Ramcompare project and future developments within sheep recording including rebasing the indexes.
