BAILEYS SHEEP MAKING HEADLINES Stirling 2011 Four buyers shared the £18,000gns investment in Myfyr Evans ram lamb by the record breaking £90,000gns Ardlea Arbennig. Out of a ewe by BAILEYS BRIGADIER II – the lamb was split between Robbie Wilson, Mark Priestley, The Sufferan family and Paddy Grant. Roscrea 2011 The highest priced lamb at the 2011 Roscrea sale was €3,100gns who was the open Male Champion and overall champion. The ram owned by Wilson Brothers was sired by Errigal Simply the Best our of a BAILEYS BIG BROTHER ewe. Ballymena 2012 The highest priced ram lamb - £1,700gns was a son of BAILEYS PADDY POWER out of a ewe by Birness Starcracker – purchased by W Gleeson. 4th in the Novice Lamb Class made £1,400gns was an impressive lamb. Sired by GLENHO ROYAL EDITION and out of a ewe by BAILEYS INVINCIBLE. Numerous buyers tried to secure this lamb but it was M Priestley and W Montgomery who placed the final bid to secure his services for the Limestone and Smiddiehill flocks. T & B Robinson sold two cracking ram lambs which attracted a lot of interest. The twin brothers by CAIRNESS KANINE and out of a ewe by Cairness See the Stars. Royal Ulster Show at Balmoral 2012 Female Champion and Overall Supreme Champion went to Patrick Donnelly of Donrho Flock. This shearling ewe has double Bailey breeding – sired by BAILEYS PADDY POWER and the grand dam is by GLENHO – THE ROCK Bristol Cup 2012 Congratulations to Patrick Donnelly of Donrho Flock winner of the National Flock Competition and getting second in the Progeny Group with BAILEYS PADDY POWER bred ewes. Stirling 2013 Taking the day’s top price of 36,000gns and continuing a strong sales season for the brother and sister duo Iain and Judith Barbour, Anna, was a Solwaybank Skyfall son, FHT 13073. Setting a new flock high, this son of the homebred sire is out of a dam by BAILEYS BUGATTI and goes back to Glenisla Grimaldi on his dam’s side. He sold to Northern Irish-based breeder Gary Beacom having stood third in the pre-sale show. Second best of the day went to the Fraserburgh-based Cairness flock of Jimmy Douglas. Another sired by a homebred tup, this one, 33H 13129, is by Cairness Diamond Jubilee and out of a dam by CAIRNESS NEW APPROACH which is a full sister to 8000gns sire BAILEYS BMW and goes back to RHAEADR ROSSI. He sold for 21000gns in a four way split, going to Ross Lawrence, Devon, Geoff Biddulph, Cheshire, Chris Holmes, 2
Worcestershire and Robin Irwin, Devon Fellow Northern Irish breeder Alistair Gault then took a bid of 4000gns for his second lamb, AOR:13:006. Sired by Birness Bacardi, he is out of a home bred CAIRNESS KANINE daughter that was All Ireland native breed champion as a gimmer in 2011. He was purchased by Mike Davies, Powys. Ballymena 2013 The Society president W Montgomery got in on the act presenting a pen of untrimmed ram lambs which resulted in a top call of 1,600gns. This was paid for a son of Ballycoose Big Ben out of a RHAEADR ROSSI dam. He heads for use in the commercial flock of PJ Kane, Ballycastle. William had a complete clearance to average £645 for the seven lambs forward. Winner of the novice ram lamb and overall champion went for a tremendous carcass lamb from B&C Dickson, Islandmoyle Flock. This Limestone To-Tal son out of a CAIRNESS NEW APPROACH dam was sold for pedigree use in Bannow flock of G Rossiter, Wexford. He was purchased for 1,200gns. The dam was purchased at our sale two years ago – well done to the Dickson Brothers!! Beeston Suffolk Sale 2013 It was an entry from Jimmy Douglas’s noted Cairness Flock based at Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, that lit up the sale when achieving a record price of 5500 gns for this sale. The top selling entry was for a gimmer by Rhaeadr Roger Ramjet whose grand dam was a Glenisla ewe who in fact was the grand dam of the record priced 90000 gns Ardlea Arbennig. This gimmer was sold carrying twins to BAILEYS ROCK SOLID and was sold to Brian Jones for his Thurston Flock based in Cumbria Royal Highland Show 2013 Second prize shearling ram was BAILEYS STREETS AHEAD who is by RHAEADR ROSSI and shown by Annie Hutchon. Royal Welsh Show 2013 Male Champion was sired by BAILEYS BRIGADIER THE SECOND. Stirling 2014 A Baileys Rock Solid ram lamb made a top price of £20,000gns. He is out of a dam by Cairness Cyclone that is an ET sister to Cairness Custom Made and a maternal sister to the £17,000gns Cairness Diamond Geyser (National Sale Champion 2012). Purchased jointly by Patrick Donnelly – Dunrho Flock and Alfred & Norman Robinson – Benrafton Flock. Two of the top lambs from the Myfyr Evans Rhaeadr pen made £5,200gns each – both lambs are out of Baileys BMW mothers. Flock Competition 2014 Congratulations to the Dunrho Flock on winning the Flock Competiton. BAILEYS PADDY POWER has won the Progeny Group in Suffolk Flock Competition for the second time. 3

Cairness Bolt (96213) Sire Whitestone Footprint Dam 33H:N11 by Cairness Achievement This was one of Jimmy Douglas’s best lambs in 2012 - Cariness Bolt was purchased at Stirling 2012 for £5,500gns with the Endova Flock – David Duncan. This ram was purchased for his excellent pedigree as he has both Cairness Liam and Cairness Achievement bloodlines. He has excellent style, character, power, bone and correctness – he has grown on to be a tremendous sheep. 4

CASTLEWOOD FLOCK The Castlewood flock was established in 2002 with the purchase of two gimmers from the Baileys flock. In 2003 two more were purchased at the Muiresk dispersal and another from Baileys. A choice gimmer has been purchased each year since then from the Baileys flock. In 2004 HJW:C25 was purchased for €3,800, in 2005 HJW:D41 was purchased for €4,000 and in 2007 HJW:J45 was purchased for €2,400. These three ewes form the backbone of the flock. Their offspring being very correct lambs with tight wool, style/head up, good bone and carcass. In recent years we have enjoyed tremendous success in the show ring. The highlight being in Roscrea 2011 with a son of HJW:J45 by Cairness New Approach. Here we won the Novice Ram lamb class, Open Ram lamb class, Male Champion and Supreme Champion of the show, with judge Charlie Proctor, Conveth flock and Jimmy Douglas, Cairness flock purchasing him for €5,000. In that year we also won the RDS Champion of Champions Award. In 2012 “Castlewood Champion” was first prize Shearling ram at the Highland Show and Reserve Male Champion. In 2013 we purchased “Sitlow Sergeant” at the National Sale. In his first year he has bred upstanding lambs, head up with tight wool and good legs, one of which sold to 1,400gns at Stirling this year to P. Thompson (NI). He is service sire to all ewes in the flock this year

DeBurca Foreword The Deburca Suffolk Flock was established in 2003 with foundation stock purchased from long established flocks across Ireland. Since then we have purchased in-lamb ewes from the top flocks throughout Ireland, England and Scotland. With the use of ET we are in the position to offer top pedigree Suffolk stock for sale Show Success Over the years we have won numerous prizes in the show ring the most recent show success we won First in Roscrea 2012 in the ewe lamb class. In the west of Ireland in 06 we had 4 firsts with the champion and reserve champion in the beginners class on the same day we had a first in the corrandulla show with a Ram lamb by Bawnogue Beaugatti and when roscrea sale came along a full brother came second in the novice class. We entered the West of Ireland Club Championships in Corrandulla in 2007 and had success with 3 firsts .The same year we entered the south of Ireland national championship competition where we had a first in the hogget ram or older class won by a stock ram Carragh Casper a son of Glenho Glanza just as we taught the year could not get any better we won the Novice ram lamb class in Roscrea show and sale with Deburca Bounty. In 09 we had the champion ram lamb and Male champion and overall reserve champion Deburca Deezer an excellent ram with excellent pedigree and is one of our main stock rams . Flock Competition The Deburca flock entered the flock competition in 06 and 07 with great success .The first year we came first in the 0-30 group and also won the best new entrant the second year we moved up a group to the 30-50 and came second. We enjoy having pedigree sheep and looking forward to our next crop of lambs every spring, always hoping for that elusive champion will arrive. We retained only the best ewe lambs every year and feel that the females on offer are top quality. Errigal Foreword The Errigal Flock was established in 2008 with the purchase of 3 ewe lambs and 3 in-lamb Gimmers from Shannagh and Castleisle Flocks. We purchased “Donegal Premier Sale Champion” ram lamb from Malinhead Flock also. The flock has been developed to an admirable, high standard. We continue to buy top quality females from many of the leading breeders. The flock has enjoyed a numerous amount of success in shows and sales, both at a local and national level. We won classes and championships at shows throughout Donegal. In 2010, we entered the National Sheep Championships for the first time. We won the 1st four places in the novice class and 1st and 2nd place in the “Aged Ewe” class. In 2011, we won the “Open Ram Lamb”, “Male Champion” and the “Irish National Supreme” championship with Errigal Simply the Best. As well as that, we won 2nd prize “Untrimmed Ewe Lamb” and the winning group of three. We sold 3 lambs at Northern Area Show and Sale in Sterling, finishing 13th highest average. Our best lamb won 3rd prize in the “Open Ram Lamb” class. He was sold for £2,200gns to David Gilmour, Broomknowes, Ayrshire. In 2012, we won “Shearling Ram and Upward” and “Male Champion” at the National Sheep Championships with Errigal Simply the Best. In addition the latest has been awarded the titles “2012 Homebred Sire of the Year” and “Irish Sire of the Year”. We won 1st prize “Untrimmed Lamb” with PBH:12:001 by Errigal Simply the Best at National Sheep Championships. This has been another tremendous year for the flock at the National Sheep Championships. 1st & 4th prize in the “Open Ram Lamb Class”. 1st prize in the “Trimmed Ewe Lamb Class”, 2nd & 3rd prize in “Untrimmed Ewe Lamb Class”. 2nd in the “Sherling Ram and Upwards” and 2nd prize in the “Group of Three” also. This year in Stirling, our top lamb was sold for €3,100gns. Furthermore, In Roscrea this year our 1st prize ewe lamb was sold for €1,700gns and our top two ram lambs were sold for €1,800gns each. Over the last two years a number of breeders purchased top quality females to join their flushing teams. At least three breeders retained tup lambs from their purchases, one in Belgium, England and Ireland. This is an excellent batch of gimmers and ewes, eleven of which are in lamb to Cairton the Cracker and one in lamb to Cairness Diamond Jubilee by kind permission of Jimmy Douglas. No doubt this is a great opportunity for breeders to purchase new and prosperous genetics. Carragh Foreword The Carragh Flock was established in 1993 with the purchase of 8 ewe lambs from the Ballyturn flock. Over the years the flock has grown from strength to strength. Top quality stock has been purchased from top flocks in Ireland and Scotland, mainly Cairirness, Muiresk , Strathisla, Solwaybank, Ewe Bank and Baileys flock. J53 X106 was purchased privately for €14,600 from the Strathisla flock, she was twice RHAS champion and ET’d within the flock yearly. FHT A58 was purchased from Solwaybank flock and went on to breed Carragh Unique, he won first prize in the novice class, first prize in the open ram lamb class and went on to win the reserve male champion at the national championship 2006. He was top prize ram lamb at the premium show and sale at Roscrea 2006 selling for €7,500. Carragh flock had top average that day. The flock has enjoyed success in shows and sales , both local and countrywide. The Carragh flock was winner of the South of Ireland flock competition 2006 and 2007. Cairness Centra and Carragh Fusion were the winners of best stock rams in the same competition. The West of Ireland club championships have been run for the last 8 years with the Carragh flock being Champion three times and Reserve three times. In 2007, Baileys Masterpiece was purchased privately and has been used extensively in the flock. He has bred the first prize winner in the ewe lamb class in the West of Ireland championship and first in the South of Ireland championship, and sold in the premier sale at Roscrea for the top price female on the day for €4,600. Baileys Masterpiece was homebred sire of the year 2010. He was sire of HOL L15 which sold for 3,000gns to the Errigal Flock and HOL N12 which sold to the Solwaybank Flock for 2,000gns. No bid shall be retracted. 9. If a dispute arises as to any bidding, then at the discretion of the Auctioneer, either:
a) the lot to which the disputed bid relates shall immediately be put up again, or b) the Auctioneer shall determine the dispute, and their decision shall be final and binding on all parties. 55
10. The purchaser shall, if and when required, give his name and address to the Auctioneers, and shall if required, pay to the Auctioneers the purchase money for each lot at the fall of the hammer, or so soon thereafter as the Auctioneer may require. 11. Purchasers paying by cheque must be prepared, if required, to produce a bankers reference. 12. No lots shall be removed from the sale premises until a written delivery order has been given by or on behalf of the Auctioneers. 13. Each lot shall, at the purchaser’s expense, be removed from the sale premises with a reasonable time after the close of the day’s sale. 14. All statements in the catalogue or made by the Auctioneer at the time of sale relating to any animal are believed to be correct. No sale shall be invalidated by reason of any defect or faults in any of the animals by reason of any of the animals being incorrectly described in the catalogue, or by the Auctioneer in the ring, and no compensation whatever shall be paid in respect of any such faults or errors of description. 15. All lots are sold as having been scanned in-lamb unless otherwise stated. No guarantee beyond that date can however, be given in this regard. 16. All animals are sold as they stand, the Purchaser is deemed to have examined each animal and fully satisfied himself about the animal prior to sale. 17. All suffolks in this sale are fully registered and eligible for immediate transfer into any Suffolk flock. Registration certificates will be given with all purchases. 18. All lots are eligible for export and can be transported by the vendor to Carlisle, UK for collection if the purchaser so wishes.
