Commencement
Keeping wit
What makes St. Francis High School unique and special? There are of course several answers to that question, but the response that resonates with most everyone is our traditions. From the mother and son communion breakfast to the junior ring ceremony, traditions abound at St. Francis High School, especially when it comes to commencement. We could have taken the easy way out and planned a drive by graduation, but Saint Francis did not follow an easy path, so why would we settle. Our graduates deserved a commencement ceremony that reflected their achievements and the traditions that are St. Francis High School.
On July 30, 2020, at Our Lady of Victory Basilica we continued that tradition. The 117 graduates of the class of 2020 were divided into two groups and two separate commencement ceremonies were conducted. The first at 9 a.m. and the second at 1 p.m. This allowed for each graduate to invite two guests to the event while keeping everyone safe and adhering to social distancing guidelines. The ceremonies were recorded and later combined into one video that was then distributed to graduates and their parents so that they could share with those who were not in attendance.
