Bambi, Juliette donate bags for shipment of South Korean trash M

ISAMIS Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano and Rep. Juliette Uy donated a total of 5,000 tonner bags to be used to ship back the 5,000 tons of Verde Soko that are still stranded at Phividec Industrial Estate compound in barangay Sta. Cruz, Tagoloan town. In a ceremony held Tuesday (October 29) at the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Collection District 10 office in Cagayan de Oro City, district collector John Simon received from the provincial government a total of 4,000 tonner bags. Emano was represented by provincial board member Gerardo Sabal III. A separate ceremony was held earlier when Uy
turned over a thousand tonner bags to the Bureau of Customs. A tonner bag is an industrial container made of flexible fabric that is designed to hold a ton of materials in this case, the misdeclared household wastes from South Korea. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - Shopping malls and government offices were closed and classes suspended in this port capital of Northern Mindanao following a Magnitude 6.6 earthquake here Tuesday morning. The management of the
Ayala Centrio Mall, one of the biggest shopping malls in the city, ordered a whole day closure of the mall operation pending results of an inspection of the building. Carina Caragdag, the mall’s marketing officer,
said that five workers collapsed as the quake struck early morning, but they immediately recovered after undergoing treatment. She said that no injuries were reported, but the management decided to close the mall operation for the whole day to allow safety officials to conduct an inspection of
the building. The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) also decided to suspend its operation after cracks were reportedly noticed in the old government building. The Department of Education (DepEd) has issued a directive ordering the See QUAKES, page 11
