UN-Habitat, SHFC break ground for construction of permanent housing M

ARAWI City--To mark the second year of commemorating the liberation of Marawi from the influence of terrorist, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UNHabitat) and the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) broke ground in Barangay West Dulay here for the construction of more than 100 permanent housing units for the families from the two barangays who will be evicted from their present places. One hundred nine families of Agus Malangas and Saduc Riverside Homeowners Association in Barangays Saduc Proper, Raya Saduc, South Madaya and Daguduban are set to leave their present area because the local government is implementing the law declaring six-meter easement
along the Agus River “no build zone.” The UN-Habitat has committed to build 1,500 permanent housing units in Marawi through the 500-million pesos funding of the Japan government which was signed into an agreement by President See HOUSING, page 11

A STRONG earthquake that hit Mindanao last Wednesday, October 16 also made a crack in the city’s newest and tallest hotel, according to a report received by this paper.
