THE city government of Butuan on Tuesday welcomed the entry of Hino Motors Philippines in the Caraga market with the opening of a dealership here. CAGAYAN de Oro City--A councilor has expressed disappointment over the kind of mental health care situation in the city saying “is not active compared to Taiwan.” “(The) Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) has 600 beds and JR Borja General Hospital has 200, but no psychiatric beds… nine private hospitals in our city do not have any psychiatric beds, only the House of Hope,” said Councilor Maria Lourdes S. Gaane in her special report during the regular

session Monday, November 25, presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy. Gaane, who chairs the City Council committee on health and health insurance, reported about her travel to Kaohsiung, Taiwan last November 12-16, 2019. Gaane was designated as Ambassador of Goodwill to participate in the 2019 International Mental Health Training Center in Taiwan. She said the conference focused on sharing of experiences

in mental health care in five countries – Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Philippines. She reported that there are four mental health facilities in Taiwan, one of which is the Tsaotsun Psychiatric Center, the only public mental hospital that provides long-term care for the disadvantaged psychotic patients without family support. “We want to standardize the practice of mental health in communities.
