MisOr PDEA clears 2 CdO execs of drug links By NEF LUCZON
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Misamis Oriental provincial office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Tuesday cleared the names of two city officials who were allegedly in an additional list of personalities involved in the illegal drug trade. PDEA Provincial Officer Expedito Cardona Jr., in a radio interview over DXVM-iFM, said the names of Mayor Oscar Moreno and 1st District Rep. Rolando “Klarex” Uy were not on the alleged drug list and further clarified that no new lists exist. “We made careful and thorough validation on names and lists, and based on the national and regional level, there is no ‘Klarex Uy’ on the list,” he said in the vernacular, adding even Moreno was not on any such list. BARMM aggie council collaborates with other regions By SONY SUDARIA MDNN News Bureau
C O TA B AT O C I T Y— Bangsamoro Regional Agriculture and Fishery Council (BRAFC) joined the 16th Mindanao Agriculture Fishery Council (AFC) congress today, November 10, 2021 via Zoom teleconference. The purpose of conducting the event includes the provision of information sharing platforms for the AFCs in the Mindanao Regions for a meaningful collaboration on AFC development in their areas; and discussion of agri-fishery issues and concerns and collaboratively decide on the best possible recommendations, among others. Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Council of Region 9, 10, 11, 12 and BARMM were among the participants in the event with the theme: “Strengthened AFC Partnerships: A Pathway in Pursuing Sustainable, Progressive and Resilient Mindanao Agriculture and Fishery Development”. Bounty for Tawee’s killer raised to P4 million By JOEL CALAMBA ESCOL Managing Editor
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The reward money for any individual who can provide information, which will eventually lead to arrest of the gunman and his cohort in the killing of Barangay Councilor Sherwin “Tawee” Uy and caretaker Samual Pabalan, is now raised to P4-Million.
This, after the Uy’s family friends, business associates and political supporters have chipped in money to increase the bounty for the speedy resolution of the murder. On November 11, this year, a motorcycle ridingin-tandem suspects went to the quarry site of the Uy’s in the outskirts between Barangays Pagatpat San
Simon and shot dead Tawee and his caretaker. One of the suspects acted as lookout while the gunman immediately went to Kagawad Tawee who was resting at a swivel chair and without provocation shot him six times which caused his untimely demise. The gunman also killed his caretaker and immediately fled from the crime scene.
Hundreds of bats found in Camiguin town amid pandemic By GERRY LEE GORIT Correspondent
CATARMAN, CAMIGUIN – A colony of bats, numbering about more than 500, was found by authorities in the middle of Barangay Poblacion of this town as local government officials are now putting up measures to save these flying mammals. Camiguin is known far and wide for its white beaches, resorts, islands, springs, waterfalls, dive sites, Cemetery, among others.
Local executives believe that the presence of the more than 500 golden crown flying fox or “kabug” in Poblacion will become an added attraction in Camiguin. Its scientific name is Acerodon jubatus and the environment department has classified as critically endangered. According to the locals, the colony of bats has started to settle on two tall trees around eight years ago. The trees stand near the barangay road in the center
of the village where clusters of houses, public market, grocery stores and dining establishments are located. Don Quililan, forest technician at the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) in Camiguin, said the kind of bats in that live in Catarman are considered as the largest in the Philippines. Moreno said the brutal, cruel, barbaric and senseless killings on November 11 of Kagawad Uy and his caretaker must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. “I ask the peace-loving Cagayanons to join me in urging the speedy and complete solutions of those killings, ” the City Mayor said.
He said when he heard about the killings he immediately proceeded to the site of the crime to get an idea how it happened and he observed there was no security guard in the premises. He said that Kagawad Tawee Uy was absolutely unaware and even unsuspecting of the cruelty that See BOUNTY, page 11
