NMMC’s on “yellow alert,” braces for COVID surge
MARAWI CITY -- Congregational prayers in mosques including mass outdoor congregation prayers related to the celebration of Eid’l Fitr (Feast of Ramadhan) have been suspended by the Lanao del Sur Provincial Inter-Agency TaskForce (PIATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases. In Resolution No.06, series of 2021, the PIATF imposed a temporary ban on mass congregations and gatherings to protect the public from the highly contagious coronavirus disease (COVID)-19. The PIATF issued the resolution following a consultative meeting with the Provincial Ulama Council and the Ulama Council of Marawi City. Under the resolution, the PIATF directed that the Eid’l Fitr prayer shall be performed privately at home with immediate family members. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: All medical staff of the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) here were mobilized this week as the hospital was placed under “yellow alert” status. Dr. Jose C. Chan, the NMMC Medical Director, said that the alert status was a direct response in anticipation of a surge of COVID-19 cases in the region. Chan said that the “ yellow alert” status was a measure to “preemptively respond to the current increasing number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Northern Mindanao.” On Tuesday the NMMC has admitted a total of 111
COVID -19 cases, one of the highest admissions on COVID cases in Northern Mindanao. Chan said that under the “yellow alert” status, the hospital addresses the surge preparedness requirement to “space, staff, supplies and system” or 4s. VILLANUEVA, MISAMIS ORIENTAL - Police Provincial Director PCol Raniel M. Valones of Misamis Oriental Police Office, in an interview the other day, urged the residents of the province to help the government in the on-going fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
