This was echoed by Senator JV Ejercito as he welcomed the approval of President Rodrigo Duterte on the proposal to raise excise tax on alcohol and tobacco products. “The President’s approval to increase sin taxes would buttress the efficient and sustainable implementation of the UHC that would inclusively benefit all Filipinos,” Ejercito said in a statement last week.

Greenpeace hails PH move to return trash By GERRY LEE GORIT Correspondent CAGAYAN de Oro City--The international environmental group Greenpeace has lauded the move of the government to return the 6,500 tons of plastics and other wastes back to South Korea. The plastic trash, imported by a company whose business is into recycling, arrived at the Mindanao Container Terminal

The shipments were held by authorities after the Bureau of Customs-10 (BOC-10) and the Environmental Management Bureau-10 (EMB) allegedly found Verde Soko Philippines Industrial Corp. violating Philippine laws when it imported the plastics from Pyongtaek City, South Korea.
