CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: The City of Surigao, remained isolated Sunday, four days after Severe Typhoon Odette (Code Named Rai) lashed the Northern and Eastern provinces of Mindanao on Thursday. Mag. DAVAO CITY – No new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) have been recorded in three provinces and one city in the Davao Region, its regional Department of Health (DOH-11) said Sunday evening. Davao City, and the provinces of Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, and Davao de Oro were among those that logged zero Covid-19 cases in the latest case bulletin released by the DOH-11 on December 19. The DOH-11 reported that five new cases of Covid-19 were recorded, one in Davao del Norte and four in Davao Occidental, bringing the total number of active cases to 665. There were also 21 new recoveries reported -- 19 are from Davao de Oro, and two from Davao Oriental. All the new cases were reported as local transmission and no deaths were reported. The DOH-11 also reported that 62.8 percent of intensive care unit beds, 77.7 percent of isolation beds, 81.6 percent of ward beds, and 65.3 percent of mechanical ventilators are available. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in Northern Mindanao (RDRRMC-10) said Typhoon Odette killed five people, displaced a total of 53,340 individuals, and left an estimated PHP81

million worth of damage to property in the region. In a report released Sunday evening, December 19, the total number of individuals displaced came from 15,086 families and 242 barangays, with the province of Misamis Oriental having the highest number with

SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur -- Another dead body and dismembered hand part of the body were retrieved Sunday afternoon bringing so far five recovered fatalities from the landslide in the interior village of Sibagat in Agusan del Sur. The recovered cadaver was identified as Robert Cabalquinto, 6, who was among the 11 family members buried by a landslide in the village of Kioya as they were heading to an evacuation center on Thursday amid the onslaught of Typhoon Odette. Rolando Buag, head of the town’s emergency operation center, said Cabalquinto and the mutilated hand which were already decomposing were found at the top side part of the Panggabon Waterfalls prompting the local health office to order

the immediate burying of the corpse at the cemetery. He said the body could be washed out from the rampaging floodwater of an overflowing creek coming from the landslide site about 150 meters from the waterfalls where the victims were hit by a fallen Balite tree and buried by the onrush of loosened soil. Among those buried was

a 6-month-old infant. Search and retrieval operation involving the Sibagat Search and Rescue, Bureau of Fire Protection firemen, the local police, soldiers from the 65th Infantry Battalion, the Searchand Rescue Agusan del Sur were widened to ensure that all of the victims’ bodies will be found.
