CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY Mayor Oscar S. Moreno yesterday reiterated his concern on the seemingly slow turn out of cash distribution, as the City Government has committed to the regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, to distribute said “ayuda” in fifteen days. The City Mayor, during a press briefing, was worried the City Government cannot deliver the 15-day commitment and voiced out fears the remaining funds will be returned to DSWD. “Nagpirma ko karon sa sulat asking for extension. Kay ug dili sila mosugot na iuli natong kwarta Cel (referring to CIO chief Maricel Casiño-Rivera). Kay nag commit baya ta to distribute the money in 15 days,” Mayor Moreno said yesterday. Moreno said the people will persecute them if the money will be returned to DSWD just because they weren’t able to distribute in due time as among their commitment to the DSWD regional office here. CAMP EVANGELISTA: The remains of four more army soldiers who died in the ill-fated C-130 military plane crashed in Jolo,Sulo arrived here, the military said Saturday. Maj. Francisco P. Garello, Jr., Spokesperson of the army’s Fourth Infantry Division, said that the remains of the four soldiers arrived Friday afternoon at the Lumbia airport in Cagayan de Oro City. Rufus Rodriguez recommended with the Commissions on Higher Education Department (CHED) 1,085 incoming freshmen scholars for the School Year 20212022 here. Rodriguez said that the incoming freshmen scholars in privare schools were entitled to a P40,000 financial assistance under the Universal Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST).
Those accepted in public tertiary educational institutions like the University of Science and Technology of the Philippines in Cagayan de Oro City were already free from tuition and fees. The CHED and Unifast were now evaluating the recommended 1,085 applicants/enrollees in private colleges and universities for scholarships, Rodriguez said. He said the CHED and Unifast will soon announce the accepted applicants to the scholarship under the government’s “Tulong sa Dunong”program.
