wedish retail giant H&M Hennes and Mauritz, Inc. has opened its 18th store in the Philippines at Ayala Centrio Mall in Cagayan de Oro City.
Over a thousand excited shoppers queued as early as the day before to be the first to see only its second store in Mindanao after Davao. H&M Cagayan de Oro has more or less 1,500 square meters of store space and opens regularly from 10am-9pm. It carries a full assortment of H&M products including ladies, men’s, kids, shoes, accessories and lingerie, and also has complete sports, denim and underwear departments for both men and ladies. CHEZ Marie Bar Café and Restaurant, the startup which became a stunning overnight success after it opened its doors in December 2014, decided to open a new branch uptown last week. And so the new Chez Marie branch at SM City Cagayan de Oro was blessed and inaugurated much to the delight of the people living nearby. Uptown Cagayan de Oro, long regarded
as the new growth area of the city, has already been eyed by Chez Marie proprietor Maribel Gargar for the expansion of her business as early as the middle of this year. “We have lots of uptown customers who come to our Divisoria outlet and inquire on when should we open a branch in their area. This is our answer at last to all their queries,” Gargar said.
Gargar’s Chez Marie business started as a hobby. She used to intently view and observe the late German Moreno’s recipes in the defunct show Negosiyete. Long to be a fan of French cuisine, Gargar then infused what she had learned from the TV show and developed French-inspired recipes. And so Chez Marie was born. (Chez means “come” in French, the whole name would loosely translate “come Marie/PAGE 11
