HE Cinemagis Digital Short Film Festival released the official list of entries for its 10th installment on its Facebook page on Thursday, January 11. With a total of 16 competing entries, nine of which are listed under the student category and seven have been qualified to the senior category. These categories vary according to the backgrounds of their filmmakers wherein current college undergraduates compose the former, and professionals consist the latter. The selection was made in accordance with this year’s suggested themes which take their stance on pressing issues related to peace, cultural solidarity, human rights, gender and development, harmony with the

environment, and cultural understanding and awareness. A dose of life’s funny and subtle contradictions also take the scene. But as much as the filmmakers were given the freedom to express their creativity, their films will be judged according to their qualities. JCI Kagayhaan Gold unveils artworks to fund projects By MARK FRANCISCO, Lifestyle Editor

ALWAYS a dynamic thinker, JCI Kagayhaan Gold president Owen Jaen is a perpetually restless person. He always concocts ideas in his mind on what projects his club would pursue and how to fund them. One idea sticks out holding an art exhibit and the artworks to interested patrons, eventually helping fund JCI Kagayhaan Gold's projects for the rest of the

year. And so Blends was born. It all started when JCI Kagayhaan Gold member Christian Gesta and Jaen were having a typical chitchat. In the course of their conversation, Jaen knew about Gesta's pastime which is coffee painting. He immediately invited Gesta to spearhead an art exhibit for JCI Kagayhaan Gold.

Gesta was at first hesitant. (He only had two exhibits prior.) But Jaen was able to convince him because it was for the club's projects. Jaen has many projects lined up for this year sustaining a literacy program for streetchildren in 31st St., Nazareth, teaching life skills to female inmates at the Cagayan de Oro City Jail, teaching students at Masimag

Elementary School in Talakag, Bukidnon about nutrition and hygiene, etc. He definitely needs all the help he can get. But Gesta could not muster to do it alone. Not yet. So he enlists the help of another Cagayan de Orobased artist - Bia Magtajas. A paralegal at Balaod Mindanaw, Magtajas is a perfect tandem choice. artworks/PAGE 7
