LDN-LGU promotes women’s football TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – As part of the National Women's Month Celebration that seeks to increase awareness on issues concerning women and their continuing fight for equality, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte (PGLDN) hosted a province-wide Women’s Football Day, Football Clinic and Festival of Football, earlier. The one-day event was spearheaded by PGLDN under its ‘Kabataan Sigurado’ program

Post-Yolanda’s youth sexual behaviors in E. Visayas ‘unacceptable’ THE Commission on Population (PopCom) has expressed concern over unacceptable sexual behaviors of youth in Eastern Visayas after the 2013 super typhoon, owing to young people’s urge to seek pleasure after the traumatic experience. Citing the 2013 Young Adult Fertility and Sexuality (YAFS), PopCom Regional Director Elnora Pulma said that two of every five youth in the region have sexual experience with mean age at first sex is 18 years for males and 17.6 years for females. “There are many factors affecting the high premarital sex cases. Among these are peer pressure, poor guidance from parents, and lack of sense of responsibility of young people,” Pulma said. Although the premarital sex figure is the third lowest in the country, teenage pregnancies continue to rise since late 2013. About 9.7 percent of females aged 15-19 are already mothers while 2.1 percent of females aged 1519 were pregnant with their first child at the time of the survey interview. Youth/PAGE 11
