CAGAYAN de Oro City–– After more than a decade of being muddy, the water flowing from the Iponan river can now be used for washing and bathing. According to the report made by Councilor Zaldy Ocon, chair of the committee on environment, Iponan river’s suspended solid has reduced to 8-million from its original 400-million before February 2015. “It was a two long years of fight to change the color of the river from brown to clear,” said Ocon. DI), in Opol town, Misamis Oriental, has drawn up its findings, citing five major points for consideration by the government agencies and the legislative body. The five main points have been raised by the House Committee on Indigenous Cultural Communi-
ties and Indigenous Peoples, which has looked into the plight of Higaonon tribe since the oil palm plantation started operation in their community in Opol town. The points raised by the Committee are the following: First, government agencies, like the Depart-
