Briefly Consumers rights MALAYBALAY City -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) urged the buying public to be more assertive of their rights against unfair sellers and traders who want to take advantage especially that the yuletide season has started. Ermedio J. Abang, DTI Bukidnon provincial director, said data monitored from the business establishments’ log showed common complaints such as shoddy goods and defective products. He encouraged buyers to ask official receipts or any proof of payment to help both buyer and seller to speed of grievance redressing process in case disagreement crops up. “When buying, even from the sidewalks, always demand a receipt to protect you in case you bought defective or substandard goods and products,” Abang said.

Strong coops PANABO City -- In its thrust to continually strengthen cooperatives, the Local Government Unit of Panabo through the City Cooperative Development Office (CCDO) spearheaded 10 various trainings since January until September 2013 with 586 individuals as beneficiaries. One of the notable seminars was conducted last September 25-27, 2013, a three-day seminar on Internal Control and Inventory System training at the CCDC Training Center, Brgy Salvacion which was participated by thirty four audit committee from the different cooperatives. According to Benigno Sorima, resource speaker, the training is intended for different cooperatives which lack of Internal Control System and for them to be able to form internal control policies in their respective cooperatives.
