Briefly CDO goes solar THE Cagayan de Oro City Council has approved a resolution for the use of solar energy to the city’s streetlights aiming to reduce the city government’s dependence on other power source. During its regular session presided by Vice Mayor Caesar Ian Acenas, Councilor Teodulfo Lao recommended the city to invest in solar energy for streetlights. The city’s SP Committee on Energy has the proposal for study and evaluation as Lao noted data that 75 percent of the overall electrical consumption of the city goes to streetlights. One of the considerations as pointed out by Councilor Ramon Tabor is the cost of a new solar installation.
Letter Writing Day AT least 185 students from various schools, colleges and universities here joined the observance of the “World Post Day” last Wednesday, Nimia S. Acebes, area director of the Philippines Postal Office here said. Acebes said o that the first National Letter Writing Day highlighted the observance of this year’s “World Post Day” in cooperation with various schools here. She said that the revival of letter writing aims to keep good values and letter writing alive and valid even with the advent of high tech communication that the new generation now enjoys. Acebes said that the activity was one way of instilling in the minds of students the indescribable feeling of writing personal letters laced with passion and creative eccentricity that the modern communication gadgets could not provide.
