Briefly Misocc energization OROQUIETA City – Nine more villages in the region have been energized recently following the completion of the P4.67 million electrification project in nine sitios of Misamis Occidental. The project is part of the Fostering Rural Electrification and Energization (FREE) Program of energy-firm STEAG State Power Inc. (SPI) and undertaken in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE), the Misamis Occidental I Electric Cooperative (MOELCI), and the concerned local government units of the recipient communities. Recipient communities are situated in remote areas of Aloran, Sapang Dalaga and Oroquieta City, in Misamis Occidental.
Model OFW family SIX overseas Filipino workers (OFW) and their families were awarded Tuesday for being model OFW Family in their respective communities. S p e a r h e a d e d by t h e Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Region 10, the awarding and recognition of the model OFW families in the region were held October 8 in Grand Caprice Restaurant and Convention Center, this city. Given special commendations were Rosalinda Suico-Costaña and family from Manolo Fortich in Bukidnon for their success in managing meager resources and proper channeling of funds into sound investments which led to the financial stability of the family’s income generating projects.

15 small-scale miners eye contracts in Caraga Page 13

SURIGAO City – The Mines and Geoscience Bureau in the Caraga Region (MGB-13) has received a total of 15 small-scale mining contract applications from the different provinces in the region. Engr. Noli Arreza, acting re g iona l d i re c tor, s a id four applications are from Surigao del Norte. Three are from Barangay Cansayong, Cantapoy and Hanagdong i n t he mu n ic ipa l it y of M a l i mono a nd one i n Barangay Magsaysay in Placer town. He said four applications are from Agusan del Sur located in the municipalities of Rosario and Bunawan. There were a lso four applications from Agusan del
Norte, in Barangays Del Pilar and Bayabas in Cabadbaran City; and Barangays Matinge, Kantikol and Mt. Banahaw in Santiago town. (PSALM) has moved the auction for the contract to upgrade two units of the Agus VI hydroelectric plant in Northern Mindanao — originally scheduled last week — to give more time for bidders to conduct due diligence, an official said last Wednesday.
