Moral recovery SEVENTY One employees of the Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. 10 (DOLE-10) attended the annual Moral Recovery Program Levels 7 and 8 about “Pagsisinop at Pag-iingat sa Puso,” on 17-19 May 2016 in Mambajao, Camiguin. Spouses, Gaines Marie G. Rosario, guest speakers from the Lay Formation Center (Layforce), the formation arm of the Archdiocese of Manila, encourages the participants to develop their stewardship skills, and equip them with an effective tool in managing people. “To date, there is an overflow of information in the head; but not enough formation of the heart. Layforce Programs effectively employ the Theology of the Heart in touching the life of every participant - (Formation). And, we hope to achieve a balance between the heart and the mind thereby encouraging the participants to live-out their learnings and experiences shared - (Transformation),” Rosario said.
School fund THE Budget department has released P500 million to fund the construction of new public schools in Mindanao to cater to students from indigenous communities. In a statement, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said it disbursed the funds to the Education department to finance the building of 605 classrooms across 251 sites in the Southern Philippines. Specifically, the new schools are targeted to cater to 23 indigenous peoples’ communities based in the provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Sarangani, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, North Cotabato, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Agusan del Norte.

HE business sector in Mindanao is looking forward to the agricultural roadmap that will be drafted by the administration of incoming president Rodrigo R. Duterte, and is hopeful that this will address the longstanding problems of access to financing, more research support, and forging peace with the communist insurgency.
