Briefly Fear of backlash THE Promotion of Investment Sustainability Organization (PISO) is alarmed over investment sustainability in the region once the BBL turns out diluted or watered-down. The group is composed of RBOI-registered firms in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). ARMM continues to attract more investors as prospects for the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law becomes promising. The Regional Board of Investments (RBOI) reported the entry of a P686.74 million worth of biomass plant project in Sultan Kudarat, a new addition to the growing list of investments in the region that so far registered around P1.5 billion in the second semester of 2015.

Education summit MARAWI City -- The Department of Education of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DepEd-ARMM) conducted on Monday, May 18, the first Education Summit for Education Communities to help improve the quality and to professionalize the system of education in the region. Jamar Kulayan, DepEdARMM secretary, said the summit brought together more than 200 district supervisors, secondary principals, and members of local school boards, officials of the department, local government units and schools from the Maguindanao II Division. It highlighted innovations and best practices as well as addressed pressing needs of the region’s education sector. “The Education Summit for Education Communities seeks to solve the problems coming from our Iranun communities. Dito nasasabi nila ‘yung mga problema sa schools nila,” Kulayan said.

LOCAL government units (LGUs) in Mindanao have put forward 75 infrastructure projects totaling P6 billion for possible financing under the World Bank-sponsored Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP). The new projects bring the

House to probe demolition Camigun tourism of disputed Higaonon land bill gets house okay By MARK FRANCISCO, Staff Writer

THE House committee on national cultural communities will look into a land dispute in barangay Plaridel, Claveria town in Misamis Oriental. Committee chair Rep. Nancy Catamco visited the Higaonon community last Thursday whose dwellings were about to be demolished two days earlier but was averted by the issuance of a temporary restraining order (TRO). After hearing the plight of the beleaguered residents, Catamco vowed to take along with her all 21 of her colleagues in the committee at another day to look closely in the issue and conduct a committee hearing on the matter here. The writ of demolition

was issued by Judge Al Joseph Lloren of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC) of Claveria-Jasaan on the basis of a Supreme Court order af f irming a trial court decision which gives petitioner Crew Resources Development Corporation legal possession of the disputed land. The lower court decision was rendered in 2004 when Crew Resources Development Corporation still possesses a pasture lease agreement which expired in 2005. MAMBAJAO, Camiguin -House of Representatives unanimously approved on May 19 the third and final reading of HB 5576 otherwise known the Camiguin Tourism Development Act. The policy will serve as a vehicle for job creation and economic growth and development in the province. It endeavors to provide proper mechanisms and infrastructure for sustainable tourism development as well as promote and develop potential sites identified. Tourism development areas identified in the bill includes Mount Timpoong - Hibok-Hibok Natural Monument, White Island, Katibawasan Falls, Tangub Hot Spring, Sa-ay Cold Spring, and Ardent HibokHibok Hot Spring in the municipality of Mambajao. For Mahinog town, areas identified are Magsaysay Island, popularly known as Mantigue Island, Tanguines Lagoon, Macao Cold Spring, and Queobe Eco Park. Sto.
