P-Noy’s optimism THE Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) is still on track towards passage by the two chambers of Congress, President Benigno Simeon Aquino III said in a radio interview aired , May 14. The President told Bombo Radyo that the socalled delay in the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on the BBL is actually a “positive development” and not a problem compared to the situation of the bill after the Mamasapano incident. But Aquino pointed out that he and other peace supporters would find a “watered-down” version of the BBL unacceptable because it will be tantamount to reducing benefits accruing to the Bangsamoro people.

More CCTVs DAVAO City -- The City needs more CCTVs to cover all the way to Toril District. This according to Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) head Frank Villaroman said. Villaroman says Davao City’s PSSCC has about 173 close-circuit TV cameras used by the Intelligence Operations Center (IOC) plus 19 cameras operated by the Traffic Operations Center. The cameras are as far north as Ilang just outside the Holcim cement plant and south in Lacson in Calinan District. An expansion of CCTV coverage all the way to Toril which is 33 kilometers away from the City proper will need 30 to 40 CCTV cameras Villaroman said.

Multiple graft raps filed vs. Oro mayor

A FORMER official of a farming village claimed that he has been receiving death threats after he filed the multiple ant-graft raps against incumbent Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno before the Office of the Ombudsman Mindanao. In a leaflet circulated around the city, William G. Guialani, the former village chief of Taglima-o, an outskirt village of Cagayan De Oro City, said the death threats could not deter him from pursuing his advocacy to run after “corrupt public officials.” In his complaint, Guilani said the plunder filed with the Ombudsman on March 24, 2015, was part of the lump sum complaint that includes alleged violation of the government procurement law, anti-graft and corrupt practices, and violation of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees. In the 14-page complaint that includes seven-pages annexes that supported the complaint, Guilani narrated the violations that ultimately led to an aggregate amount of P50 million that Moreno graft/PAGE 11
