Briefly Food bazaar MARAWI City -- Local bakers and chefs showcased their talents in baking and cooking during 1st Food Bazaar and Exhibit at the Provincial Capitol last week. The 1st Food Bazaar and Exhibit in this province was organized by the Provincial Government in coordination with the Rotary Club to give local bakers and chef an avenue to market their products. Rotary Club chairperson Raifa Rakiin-Adiong said the activity was intended to help entrepreneurial women promote their own products. “Lanao del Sur constituents don’t actually need to go to other cities to buy cakes and pasta. We have many local bakers and chefs who are highly competitive. As you can see, they have delicious products,” she lauded.
Investment promotions PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur -- The provincial government here will soon launch the 4th edition of the province’s investment promotion collateral that will open the gate for investors, tourists, adventurers and nature lovers to know more, and explore the potentials that Agusan del Sur can offer. The collateral lays information about the province’s culture and heritage displayed every year during the Naliyagan Festival that takes place starting June 12 and ending on the 17th of June every year. It also offers information about the economy, human resources, transport and communication, trade and industry, finance and administration, agriculture, forestry and fishery and tourist destinations. This gives the provincial leadership led by Gov. Adolph Edward Plaza the opportunity of inviting investors to develop and discover the golden opportunities in agriculture, agri-business, resourcebased investment such as fine jewelry, ‘minahan ng bayan’ processing plant, services like the mini-hydro power generation, tourism and public-private partnership (PPP). The collateral will also guide visitors where to stay while in the province. Complete list of hotels, inns and lodging houses located in the 13 municipalities and the lone city of Bayugan is clearly printed in the collateral.

OWER supply in Mindanao is now back to normal following the return to service of the second 105-megawatt (MW) generating unit of STEAG State Power, Inc. (SPI) coal-fired power plant in Misamis Oriental on Thursday last week, days ahead of its self-imposed March 16 deadline. In a st atement , SPI President and chief executive Dr. Bodo Goerlich said that Unit 1, which went off line for a planned preventive maintenance beginning 21 Febr uar y 2015, was synchronized to the Mindanao grid on Thursday, 12 March 2015 at around 12:25 pm. First to underwent the yearly maintenance works was the plant’s Unit 2, also with generating capacity of
105-MW, which was off-grid from Feb. 19 to March 2. The entire power plant -- located at the Phividec Industrial Estate in Villanueva town, Misamis Oriental -supplies more than a fifth of Mindanao’ power needs. Goerlich said the plant’s return of its full power capacity will help ease electricity supply problems in Mindanao. supply/PAGE 11

FORMER Taglimao barangay chair William Guialani has filed another string of complaints against Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno and the city treasurer for grave abuse of authority and gross misconduct for entering into an agreement to lower the amount of taxes paid by Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation. In a complaint received by the Ombudsman last Friday, Guialani charged Moreno,
city treasurer Glenn Banez and Ajinomoto for violation of Republic Act (RA) 3019, RA 6713 and RA 7160. RA 3019 is the AntiGraft and Corrupt Practices Act, RA 6713 is the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees and RA 7160 is the Local Government Code.
