Briefly Fair Trade Laws ILIGAN City – Aimed to strengthen their campaign to protect the consumers from deceptive, unfair and unconscionable sales acts and practices, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) signed recently a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Fair Trade Laws. This partnership was approved in May 2015. Ruel B. Paclipan, provincial director, DTI Iligan City/Lanao del Norte, said the agreement specifies the delineation of mandates between DTI and NTC, and the two agencies collaborated in the task of enhancing awareness and compliance to relevant fair trade laws that may affect business operator in the electronics sector. As part of their campaign, a sectoral briefing was conducted to retailers of cellphones and accessories as well as dealers of computers on May 21-22, 2015 at the DTI offices in Iligan City and in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

BB for development THE Palace maintains that the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law should be passed as this is a better alternative despite some groups questioning the legalities of some of its provisions. “We need to fight for this Bangsamoro Basic Law, which is again, like we have always maintained on both sides, the framework for peace and development in Muslim Mindanao,” Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said during Wednesday’s Malacanang press briefing. Lacierda is hoping that when t he 1 6 t h C o n g re s s resumes its session in July, “things will be a lot clearer on the BBL,” as people will be engaged on the ground, explaining BBL by both the solons and also by all the stakeholders.
