Briefly Energy projects AT least three energy projects worth P2.2-billion are in the pipeline here that will greatly improve the power situation in Mindanao. The proximity of the projects to each other in terms of area and timeline will enable the service contractor, Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corporation (MIESCOR), to leverage its strategic advantages for the benefit of its clients. “The scope of work for this component of the EPCC contract includes the detailed design, manufacturing, supply, delivery, erection, installation, system integration and testing, and commissioning of the 138/69-kilovolt Substation, plus associated telecommunication and protection facilities,” Marilyn A. Community resiliency VILLANUEVA, Misamis Oriental -- Community leaders and stakeholders in Villanueva town, Misamis Oriental have bound themselves to aggressively pursue no nonsense Disaster Risk Reduction Management Program in the light of heightened vulnerabilities to both manmade and natural hazards and calamities. In a recently launched Villanueva Disaster Risk Reduction Management Program at the Phividec Industrial Estate Auditorium in Misamis Oriental, Villanueva vice mayor Edwin Dagasuhan underscored the importance of leadership in mitigating the adverse impact of the ‘new realities’ of frequent natural calamities. More than 200 community leaders from all the 11 barangays in Villanueva gathered to formulate plans and specific programs designed to better prepare residents in the area in times of calamities. The program is jointly undertaken by the Local Disaster Risk Management Council (LDRRMC), energy-firm STEAG State Power Inc. (SPI), the Office of Civil Defense Region 10 and the Phividec Industrial Authority.

AN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur --- The slipping out of at least 1,800 sacks of rice from the warehouse of National Food Authority in Bay ugan City was solely the handiwork of t h e w a re h ou s e supervisor, an NFA official disclosed. “He did it on his own and he will face administrative and criminal charges,” said NFA provincial manager Gil Tabor. Tabor said a special inventor y committee composed of staff from NFA regional office and operatives from Criminal Investigation Detection Group is still investigating the case of the missing sacks of rice which missing/PAGE 11

CdO to expedite implementation of poverty reduction program THE City Council announced on Monday the receipt of the draft Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that would expedite t he i mpl e me nt at i on of the government’s Priority Poverty Reduction Project here. City Councilor Prexy Elipe, chair of the city council’s committee on finance, ways, and means, said that the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), has submitted the draft MOA of the poverty reduction

program under the BottomUp Budgeting (BUB) for 2014. He said that the MOA intends to fast track the implementation of the P6.8million “Food Packaging and Labelling Facilities” in the city in cooperation with the DTI and other stakeholders in the government. Under the MOA, the DTI would transfer to the city government the sum of P4.7 million as its counterpart fund to implement the project in accordance with

the work and financial plan, Elipe said. He said that the DTI will provide regular supervision and guidance towards the successful attainment and completion of the project while the city government provides direct supervision and human resource support. According to Elipe, the city government would also extend a counterpart fund, goods, and services needed for the successful i mpl e me nt at i on of t he poverty/PAGE 11
