Youth convention BUTUAN City – The National Youth Commission (NYC) will hold this year’s 3rd Regional Youth Advisory Council (RYAC) Mindanao Convention on February 18-20, 2015 in Davao City. According to Evanesa Pasamba, NYC Cluster Head in Northeastern Mindanao, the RYAC Convention will include the discussion of the following: 1) Integration of Programs/Projects/ Activities (PPAs) in the Mindanao Youth Agenda; 2) Enrollment of youth programs/scholarships in the Mindanao Wide Youth Compendium; 3) Presentation of Best Practices (RYAC) Resolutions); and 4) Breaking session for RYAC (per region) discussion of Business Arising from previous meeting. “We are also requesting all agencies involved to bring with them the current statistical data on youth related issues related to their office’ mandate such as dropout rate, number of in school and out of school youth, number of youth in the labor force, Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) cases per region, youth in conflict with the law and others; and the rationale, objectives, scope and mechanics of enrolled programs for the compendium,” expressed Pasamba.
BRIDGE program COTABATO City – As the transition to Bangsamoro Government is expected in the 2nd quarter of 2015, the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) launched another development program - the Bangsamoro Regional Inclusive Development for Growth and Empowerment (BRIDGE) at the Office of the Bangsamoro People, here recently. The ARMM-BRIDGE concept is patterned after the government’s National Community Driven Development Program (NCDDP) under the KALAHI-CIDSS convergence program of the DSWD, according to ARMM Executive Secretary Laisa Alamia.. “The ARMM-BRIDGE adopts the same mechanism of Community Driven Development (CDD), meaning, the developments that we’re going to undertake is based on the request/ needs of the community.

AVAO City -Investments in agriculture and mining within the proposed Bangsamoro territory are expected to boost Mindanao’s overall economy once the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) is approved and implemente d, the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) said. “ The opportunities that we can grow from the Bangsamoro areas in terms of investments... would definitely provide a strong impetus for the whole Mindanao growth,” said Romeo M. Montenegro, MinDA public affairs division chief. MINDANAO governors and local executives expressed their support for the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) in the 36th and last public hearing and consultation conducted by the House of R epres ent at ives’ Ad Hoc C ommittee on the Bangsamoro on January 21. “I’d l i ke t o e x pre s s my support for the BBL,” Maguindanao Governor Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu said during the hearing. “I hope the legislative process is fast-tracked, because we all know that our government has been in conflict with the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), and other groups in southern Mindanao for more than 40 years now.” Basilan Governor Jum Jainudin Akbar similarly backed the BBL, noting that her constituents are “happy and hopeful that lasting peace bangsamoro/PAGE 7
