Power summit BUTUAN City -- In coordination with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), the Regional Cooperative Development Council (RCDC) Caraga hosted on Friday the Power Summit with the theme, “Co-owning the Agus-Pulangi Hydro Power Complex” held at the Provincial Covered Court, this city. The said summit presented enormous opportunity where people’s strength can be utilized to help solve the power miseries. “Your active participation here in this summit simply show you are willing and interested to help our government in solving the power crisis,” Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr. said. Amante also emphasized the need to address the energy crisis in Mindanao. “Mindanao’s economy is growing and more investments are coming, we hope to maintain those momentum but we are afraid that these cannot be sustained due to the power crisis we are experiencing until today. That’s why we have to collaborate, work together and help solve this matter. We are towards co-owning the Agus-Pulangi hydro power complex,” he said.
PR Savings Bank DAVAO City -- Philippine Resources Savings Bank, headquartered in Cauayan, Isabela in northern Luzon, is expanding in the Visayas and Mindanao as it seeks to improve the penetration rate of its loan products for micro borrowers. In an interview with BusinessWeek Mindanao, Delia M. Ladao, the bank’s newly appointed vice-president for the two areas, said her marching order is to strengthen the six branches of the lender in the Visayas and Mindanao. “Although the bank has been in existence for 37 years, the expansion (in the Visayas and Mindanao) only started three years ago,” said Ms. Ladao, who worked in the banking industry for 40 years and retired a few years ago as first vice president for Mindanao of the government-run Land Bank of the Philippines.

NGCP seeks to recover damages from ‘Agaton’ P.18/kWh recovery charge filed for Mindanao consumers

HE National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has filed a petition with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to charge an additional 18 centavos per kilowatthour (kWh) starting Feb 2015, for the damage incurred when typhoon “Agaton” struck the region in Jan 2014.

MisOr’s newest coal plant to supply power to Davao coop WHILE the construction of its 405-megawatt coal-fired power plants at the Phividec area in Misamis Oriental, the Filinvest Group has already secured regulatory approval to supply power to the electric cooperative of Davao Oriental. In a ruling, the Energy Regulator y Commission (ERC) cleared the power purchase deal between FDC
Misamis Power Corporation and Davao Oriental Electric Cooperative Inc (Doreco). Under the agreement, Doreco will buy six megawatts (MW) from FDC Misamis’ 405-MW coal-fired power project at the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental for 15 years. The additional supply would allow Doreco to meet its forecast demand from
2014 to 2028. The electric cooperative sources 5.4 MW f rom st ate-ow ne d hydropower plants, contracts for whic expire in 2016. Doreco also sources 6 MW from the Aboitiz Group’s power barges. FDC Misamis and Doreco agreed to a P4.72 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) rate, which would redound power/PAGE 7

The NGCP mentioned it will pass off the Force Majeure charges, as additional network charges in Mindanao, starting the billing period of Feb 2015 to Dec 2020, or until such time that the P1.681 million amount incurred is fully recovered. The transmission company calculated the additional cost of Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) amounted to P6,958 billion, but only requested to the ERC to recover ngcp/PAGE 7
