Briefly Climate change fund BUTUAN City -- Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regional director for Caraga Region Nonito M. Tamayo said that a total of P12.4 billion has been earmarked by the DENR for 19 specific climate change programs to strengthen the country’s resiliency against natural calamities. This amount is 57 percent of the DENR’s total budget of P21.8 billion in 2016 after the Congress realigned some budget for other priority programs of the DENR. Director Tamayo said the National Greening Program (NGP) got a big slice in the budget pie with a total of P8 billion. Last year’s budget for NGP was P7.2 billion.

AVAO City -- A P1.3 billion oil palm plantation project of a SingaporeMindanao partnership, Gintong Agri-Corporation, was approved by the Regional Board of Investments in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (RBOI-ARMM) last Friday. This is the first investment in ARMM registered this year, the RBOI-ARMM said in a press release. Last year, it recorded a total of P6.5 billion investments, exceeding 900% of its 2015 agency target of

DAVAO City -- The Regional Development Council (RDC) of Davao plans to meet within the first quarter this year to discuss its position on the planned P18.99-billion Sasa Port modernization project under the public-private

partnership (PPP) scheme. In December 2014, the RDC issued a resolution endorsing the project, but with certain conditions, including clarifications on the terms for the relocation of those who will be displaced
