High MSMEs financing TAGUM City -- The Department of Trade and Industry in Davao del Norte acquired the highest number of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) facilitated for financing, among other provinces in the region. Romeo Castañaga, provincial director of the DTI Davao del Norte, revealed in an interview that through their efforts in reaching out with the business sector, they have not only surpassed their target for 2014 but also topped other provinces in its access to finance program. According to the DTI report, 159 MSMEs in the province accessed a total of around P 18.33-million loan through their partner agencies. The identified partners were Small Business Corporation (SBC), Bank of Makati (BoM), Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), Saint Mary’s College – Business Resource Center, Babak Market Vendors Association and Panabo Business Center Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

Milk feeding MAMBAJAO, Camiguin – More children get daily supply of fresh milk here after a government subsidized dairy farm was established in 2013. It started with 25 cows, and 19 of these animals are now on the milking line supplying at least 150 liters of milk a day. All identified severely wasted children in the public schools around province, are now getting their daily share of fresh cow’s milk; the program runs for about 120 days and will continue to reach other children needing immediate nutrition intervention. To date, some 252 school children have been served. The local government also extends regular milk distribution/feeding activities during public assemblies, events, and celebrations.

LTFRB issues lower fare rates in Cag. de Oro City T

HE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) here on Tuesday issued a new fare rates as prices of fuel continue to sink.

Mandangan Darimbang, regional LTFRB director in Northern Mindanao, said that all passenger jeepneys and taxi cabs could now get the matrix of the new fare rates at the LTFRB regional

office here. He said that the newly adjusted fare rates for public utility jitneys (PUJ) from P 7.50 to P 7.00 minimum fare and for taxi cabs from P 40 to P 30 flag down rate.

Darimbang said that the adjusted fare rates were in response to the joint petition of the Taxi Drivers Association and the PUJ transport groups asking the LTFRB to adjust the minimum fare rates as the prices of fuel continue to plunge to its lowest level this week. Prices of gasoline have gone down to its lowest level at P 38.00 per liter while the prices of diesel sink at a ltfrb/PAGE 10
