Internet rules THE Cagayan de Oro City Council committee on education enjoins all operators of internet cafés to review, study and follow all the provisions stated in Ordinance No. 7820-2001. Councilor Adrian Barba, chair of the committee, explained the ordinance prohibits owners or persons in-charge of internet cafes from allowing minors to play computer or video games inside their establishments from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. during school days. Barba recalled that when he conducted spot inspections at some internet cafes, operators found violating the ordinance simply reasoned out that they were not informed of such law. The councilor said during the ongoing renewal of business permits, operators should also be reminded of their social responsibility to their clients, especially those in the elementary school levels.

He said that DA designed the 2.2–kilometer long tram line to carry a 500-kilogram load to expedite the transport of various farm products from the remote farming villages toward the town’s center. Penona said that the funds used in the construction of the tram line came from President Benigno Aquino III’s Food Security and Sufficienc y Program in partnership with the local government of Claveria. eyed for the Davao region this year. Davao Light and Power Co. (DLPC) chief operating officer Arturo M. Milan said the light railway project is only feasible through a publicprivate partnership. Milan said that while a railway system would be expensive if city-funded, it

would not be the case if it is funded from national sources. “Businesses should look at this as an investment into the future,” he said, adding it would accelerate development, especially in terms of the movement of goods and people. “What is really needed for Mindanao to develop is a mass transport system,” he said. project/PAGE 6
