Injunction granted
CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno obtained a writ of preliminary injunction Monday afternoon from the Court of Appeals Special 22nd Division here. Pastor Temor, the legal counsel of complainant William Guialani, confirmed to the Mindanao Daily News (MDN), that his office received the resolution about 5 p.m. Monday.Lawyer Leon Gan, one of the counsels of the Vice Mayor Caesar Ian Acenas, also confirmed the CA’s granting of the preliminary injunction to Moreno. Gan, however, lamented the CA’s failure to hear the “petition for inhibition” filed by William Guialani and the “Motion for Leave and Intervene” of Vice Mayor Acenas.“We are appalled by the sudden issuance of the writ of preliminary injunction without the hearing the side of the complainant,” Gan said.
Mitigating El Nino TO strengthen the implementation of the National Greening Program (NGP) and protection of the forests, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Region 10 recently conducted a Trainor’s Training on “Mitigating Measures in Response to El Niño Phenomenon” in the provinces of Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental and Camiguin. The Trainor’s Training aimed at capacitating the NGP Extension Officers, BantayGubat and other DENR 10 employees in the Provincial/Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENROs/CENROs) particularly in the occurrence of the forest fire which is one of the effects of El Niño phenomenon. Topics discussed included vulnerabilities of NGP Plantation and its importance to inclusive growth, People’s Organization Mobilization/Organization of fire fighting brigade, fire fighting techniques, and reporting and documentation of NGP.
