Rotating brownout OZAMIZ City -- The Misamis Occidental Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MOELCI) 2, has given its consumers notice of the tentative 13-hour rotating power interruption schedule for the period Feb. 10-17, 2014. The power interruption is due to the load curtailment of MOELCI 2, because the Pulangi 4 Hydro-Electric Power Plant (HEPP), with an installed capacity of 255MW, has actually an available capacity of only 90MW due to low water inflow, Jemilo Pelimer, General Manager of MOELCI 2 said. Likewise, the STEAG Power Plant Unit 2 is on preventive maintenance shutdown and the Agus 6 HEPP Unit 2, with an installed capacity of 25MW tripped since Jan. 29, due to high thrust bearing temperature. Pelimer said the load curtailment of MOELCI 2, during the eight-day period reaches 276.62MW or a daily average of 34.57MW, affecting the Cities of Tangub and Ozamiz, and the towns of Bonifacio, Clarin, Tudela, Sincaban, Jimenez and Panaon, all in the 2nd District of Misamis Occidental.

New fish port SURIGAO City is eyeing the build a P390.340-million fish port to further boost the booming fishing industry in the city. The proposed fish port project at Barangay Canlanipa is within the fishing grounds of the municipal and commercial fishermen in the area of Surigao City, Surigao Strait, Bohol Sea, Butuan Bay, Siargao Strait, Dinagat Sound, Hinatuan Passage and the southern part of Leyte Gulf. The proposed fish port will have a fish landing wharf of 140 lineal meters, 10 meter x 80 meter commercial fish landing pier, 4-hectare port terminal, breakwater, bulkhead and revetment causeway. The fish port project also includes functional facilities including fish market, gear/ commercial shops, administration building, fish container storage facilities, public toilets and other miscellaneous amenities.

AKATI City — Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental will have to wait until November this year for the completion of its navigational system, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) told local officials and traders from Cagayan de Oro last week.
