Tourism devt BUTUAN City -- The House of the Representatives has approved four bills filed by Agusan del Norte (2nd District) Congressman Erlpe John M. Amante, related to the declaration of tourism development sites in the province. The bills of Amante were approved on the third and final reading by the house of representatives on Monday. The following bills filed by Amante included House Bill 3884: “An Act Declaring the Mapaso Hot and Cold Spring Located in Brgy. La Paz, Municipality of Santiago, province of Agusan del Norte As Tourism Development Site and Appropriating Funds Therefor,” House Bill 3885: “An Act Declaring the Tagnote Falls In Mt. Hilong-hilong Park Located In The Municipality of remedies T. Romualdez, Province of Agusan del Norte As Tourism Development Site and Appropriating Funds Therefor,” House Bill 3886: “An Act Declaring the Punta Diwata Located in Brgy. Vinapor, Municipality of Carmen, Province of Agusan del Norte as Tourism Development Site and Appropriating Funds Therefor,” and House Bill 3891: “An Act Declaring the Lantawan Ecopark Located In Brgy. San Roque and Brgy. Crossing, Municipality of Kitcharao, Province of Agusan del Norte as Tourism Development Site and Appropriating Funds Therefor.”

Underground cable DAVAO City -- A joint working group from the local government and a utility firm will start inspecting the site for a pilot underground cabling project. Atty. Joseph Felizarta acting assistant city building official said the proposed area for the pilot underground cables will be within the Davao City Hall and Sangguniang Panglungsod peripheries. The current set-up is horizontal cabling where electric and telecommunication cables are propped up by posts. Felizarta said Davao Light and Power Company is allocating P70million for the project. He expects other companies with cables on the poles to allocate fund for the underground cabling.

Oro traders ignore call for tax payment protest O

A HYDROELECTRIC power dam project on the Cagayan River that has been delayed

for 15 years running could have possibly mitigated the deadly flash floods which ravaged Cagayan de Oro City some four years ago and killed thousands of residents. “The Bulanog-Batang Hydroelectric Power Project has a huge 82-million cubic meter reservoir impounding area,” said Engr. Cerael C. Donggay, president and CEO of Greenergy Inc. during a project presentation to the City Tourism Council held Tuesday, 10 February at the City Mayor’s Office conference room. “With adequate warning, we can release water from our reservoir to accommodate a huge volume of flood waters coming from the Bulanog and Batang Rivers which at the dam/PAGE 11
