Investors unaffected by martial law, DTI-10 says Thank you for trusting us!
By JIGGER JERUSALEM, PNA

HE imposition of mar tial law in Mindanao has not affected the commercial activities in the island, specifically in Northern Mindanao, the chief of the Department of Trade and Industry in Region 10 (DTI10) said Thursday.
THE Department of Trade Industry (DTI) expects exports of goods and services to increase by 2 to 4 percent up to about $99 billion this year, with services leading the growth. “I think it’s now between 0 to 1 (percent growth); the way it appears, this is for goods only. Because services will still show about single-digit growth,” DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez told reporters over the weekend. Lopez said they were hoping to hit 2-percent rise in exports of goods this year, but the United States-China trade war has impacted supply chain activities.
“With or without martial law, we had plenty of investors [in the region],” said DTI-10 Director Linda Boniao during a press conference here. UNAFFECTED/PAGE 10

Better marketing DAVAO City — The city’s business chamber is focusing on helping companies build their marketing capability in 2020 following this year’s round of trade missions. John Carlo B. Tria, incoming president of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII), said he wants to focus on capacity building, business promotion, and policy advocacy. “These are the three major areas that we will develop,” he told the media at a forum last week. He added that he will “discuss specific approaches under those three banners” as soon as the chamber drafts its plans, but add that the aim is to help businesses develop new markets and strengthen disaster resilience.
