> We usually write about a procedure or a technique to educate our readers. This month we would like to discuss the difference between corporate dental clinics and private practice. As private practitioners we feel it is important to address the issues of clinics verses private practitioners as the landscape of healthcare changes in this country. The benefit of seeing a private practitioner is that there should always be consistency in care.Your dental professional will get to know you, know your significant history, and be able to review treatment recommendations based on your specific needs and goals. Your return visits will always be with the same doctor as opposed to corporate owned dental practices that typically staff with 1 or more multiple dentists and hygienists. When special consultations are needed your general dentist acts as the leader of the band to insure that you will not have any surprises and that the specialist is completely informed of your specific needs. The general dentist and the specialists work as a team to help you,our patient, get the treatment you need, and you want. The general dentist acts basically as your surrogate to oversee your treatment. When this team approach is implemented your doctor assumes responsibility for your care and you become a VIP.Your treatment

Traditional private dental practices are sometimes misrepresented as having being too expensive or having higher fees. The fees are based on the overhead involved in our practices and the quality of the materials used and with the time it takes to deliver the best dental care. Corporate clinics have a different model that they go by. Remember if it seems too good to be true it usually is and a drastic difference in fees should be a red flag.
