HEAL YOUR HEELS

KNOW YOUR BROWS

BRIGHTEN UP YOUR SKIN

DURING THE PARTY season, heels become the go-to shoes for many women. But after all the soirees, your favourite pair of high heels can become your arch nemesis. Normal walking motion coordinates the foot and calf pump, contracting the calf muscles and propelling blood up the deep veins. High heels change the natural walking motion, shifting the weight to the forefoot and causing the calf muscles to remain contracted. This decreases the filling of the foot and calf veins and causes venous blood pooling. Don’t worry! You don’t have to stop wearing heels altogether. But you should make an effort to stretch your calf muscles to ensure good blood flow, mix up your footwear and give your legs a break every so often! Going for a 30-minute walk each day will also ensure that your calves are pumping blood back up the system. Your legs (and your waistline) will thank you. If you have any health concerns, make it your New Year’s resolution to get your veins checked.

BROWS COME IN all different thicknesses, colours, shapes and sizes! Everyone’s brows are different, and all the different types can leave any girl wondering, “What am I?” First things first, you need to step back from the mirror and leave your brows alone! This will let them grow and return to their original form. This will help you discover the way the hairs grow and where the arch is, as well as the natural colour and the thickness. This is also why visiting a brow professional is the best option! Many ladies try to fill in their brows themselves and end up with a shape that doesn’t suit their facial structure. Ask your brow expert how to fill in your brows to enhance your natural features, rather than working against them. They will be able to keep the essential shape that is authentic and unique to you. The Brow Bar’s Arch Angel Brow Experts will ensure that your brows match you! A consultation with one of these experts can help you get to know your brows.

CARBON DIOXIDE DOESN’T just put the fizz in your soft drink; it has also been shown to help improve the elasticity and appearance of skin, especially dark rings under the eyes. Carboxytherapy is a simple non-surgical cosmetic treatment that administers small amounts of carbon dioxide into the subcutaneous tissue (located just under the skin’s surface). Our bodies naturally produce carbon dioxide, but the administration of additional gas can be used to cause a slight disruption of the red blood cells and increase the blood circulation to the treated area. The treatment was first discovered in the Royal Spas of France in the 1930s, when bathing in pools of carbon dioxide-rich water was shown to speed wound healing. This therapeutic treatment has recently landed in Brisbane at Cosmetic Image Clinics. Carboxytherapy can be used to target skin flaccidity, dark under-eye circles, stretch marks, sun-damaged skin and cellulite. It can also be used in conjunction with CoolSculpting services for spot reductions of stubborn fat.
